A while back there was some talk from CCP about capitalizing on all the 3rd party development.

The model suggested was torn apart by the players and seems to have gone back to the drawing board.

My suggestion, which might have been promoted already, would give third party developers AND ccp an opportunity to capitalize on all this work.

An EVE APP store
Third party developers could upload their software and for a small amount of RL money we the consumers download it. CCP would get a small commission.

The apps could be downloaded for smartphones, IPADs, PCs etc etc.

For their commission CCP could set aside some resources to help streamline these third party products and maybe allow third party developers greater access to the game.

Currently i`m using alot of really great third party products and i would have no problem paying those people who make them. I don`t do paypal donations and would very much prefer some kind of more standardized way of compensating those third party people doing excellent work.

I`m 34 years old though and i can see alot of teenagers or even students having trouble with this concept. Personally i would love a formalized EVE APP store. Would you?

Very little third party apps are needed for the game, and I like it that way. Because any app for any system can be malicious or infected with malicious code, policing the app store for such apps is additional job CCP would need to take, and even with that you cant really be sure there isnt some spyware in the app that's yet undetected.

I wouldn't use that app store anyway, so I don't really care, but I'm pointing to the real problem hacking accounts with third-party apps may become in the future.
