Ideas on how a viable F2P model would work.

This thread is not about declining numbers or if EVE should go free to play, but rather if it did, how would it work?

My suggestion, would be similar to ESO's model where there is still a subscription you can purchase but not mandatory.

First things first...

Free players would not be able to play more than one client at a time based on IP address similar to the way trial accounts would now. There would also be a feature that if you log in on a free account that it stops training on other accounts that share that IP.

Free accounts would be allowed to interact with the markets but would be limited such as only having a total of 5 open buy sell orders.

Free accounts would also be limited to access to science and manufacturing jobs (aka none) and could not own or operate POS and PI. I might also suggest free player could not start their own corps or alliances (this might be up for debate).

Players who pay a $15 month fee or trade enough isk for a plex could get these features which I would not say would be pay to win since having access to these features would still require effort to achieve positive results with.

Also sub players can multibox and train multiple characters at a time.

In my option on this would be sufficient to keep players paying money to play the game while providing more content (targets) all around.

If you have any other ideas on how a F2P system could work, post them.

Or if you see flaws or changes to my ideas, let's hear that too.

Wrong forum.

Aside from that, why F2P? What's the problem that this model will solve?

Kindly disembark from the game, and kindly take your thread with you.

I find the current "F2P" model VERY good.

It does not include any Pay-2-win elements, but just plain and simple isk.

Other players buy your game time in order for you to play, and you pay them a decent amount of ISK to do so (fair market value of a PLEX)

This way the servers are paid for, and you dont drift into the stupid Pay-2-win area.

You just need to put a bit of effort in. And also CCP is not "involved" in this. They just provide you a way to securely trade that gametime.

I am not suggesting we go F2P so I did not put in the suggestion forums, but rather asked "If we had to, how would we do it?"

So I am not asking anyone's opinion on if, but rather how.

Not particularly no.

F&I is called "Features and Ideas Discussion" and is for the discussion of ideas. It's not called the suggestions forum.

However before even how, why is this model needed?

I don't think a F2P model will work in this game.

Before you jump to the "but I didn't ask if...." thing, that is the point, I don't think it could work due to the nature of this game and the resentment to the Play-To-Win aspect of only those who pay really have a chance.

It is really hard to get meaningful feedback on how something should be done before you address the if it should be done.

Trying to do this the way you suggest seems so much like getting the "cart before the horse" that is really just looks like a troll-bait post.

The glaring problem with the ESO/SWTOR models is that even though subscribing isn't mandatory, they both make the free to play options so undesirable that you have to subscribe regardless to get an enjoyable play experience.

Free2Play as subscription model is all about manipulation and literally MILKING people.
It's not about providing a good game, it's about manipulating people into believing that
their virtual character equals their actual character.

It's basically proof that companies think their customers are idiots.

These games aim at the weakest point in their players, which is their self esteem. (we had that one already, right?)

What do you get to buy in many games? Gear that makes you better than the rest.
Want to skip time and be faster than others? Buy this SpeedUp item to finish this task faster.
Want to seperate yourself from the rest? Buy this vanity item for 75$.

If you look at it ... all these games make money from poor people who have no self esteem.

Victims of modern marketing that does nothing else but constantly telling you that ...

... YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS ...
... UNLESS YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT THAT MAKES YOU ...

... A PART OF IT/BETTER/FEEL LIFE/HAVE FUN/BE SOMEONE.

It's always the same thing.

Free2Play is for dumb and/or sad people I feel sorry for.

EVE ONLINE isn't (yet) made for idiots.
