Command Rose - (holding left button over ship in space)

While im making new threads i wanted to ask about a personal gripe of mine.

Who still uses the command rose? That is the buttons that float around your ship when you hold your mouse button on it. Only time ive used it is by accident and it disappears so quickly that i often panic wondering what i just did.

Do people still use this? Is it time for it to go?

Personally i think go.

Im just resurrecting this while there is some work being done on the UI.

Does anyone actually use the rose interface that appears when you hold your mouse button over the ship?

For me, the only time i use it is by accident when spinning a ship in space and it happens so fast i get butterflies waiting to see what i just did. I mean, isnt eject one of them?

I personally vote for a flat-out removal of the command rose!

Obviously not a high priority, but if its an easy job i think it would be worth an hour of one devs time :)

No, I don't use it, but, although you can't turn it off, if it's annoying you, you can press ESC, go to the General Settings tab, and change 'Expand Action Menu with:' to Middle Mouse Button. Much less likely to have an accident with it.

This signature intentionally left blank for you to fill in at your leisure.

It only appears when you're pressing and holding the mouse on your ship

Signature removed, CCP Phantom

I do this. so I never accidentally have that thing pop up.

Too dangerous to accidentally activate things by accident IMO. So no, I don't use it and wouldn't miss it if it were removed.

I use it... a little.

I usally write one of these and then change it a month later when I reread it and decide it sounds stupid.

Almost never. I actually forgot EVE had one, and wondered what you were talking about for a minute there.

I use it extensively. At first it was bulky, but now that I'm used to it, and memorized which directions do stuff, it if fast.

I still don't use keyboard shortcuts because half the time it just starts typing in my chat window.

I use it quite frequently. Although I have never once used it because I intended to.

Thanks for the MMB tip.

I use it often. On purpose, too. vOv

Edit: What would be perfect, of course, would be if there was an option to turn it off in the Esc menu. That would make everyone moh' happy. I could well imagine that to be a b*tch to code, though, as I suspect it's been there for ages.

Nope. Too awkward, and it has eject and explode options on it.

i use it everyday never had a issue with it what so ever. i think maybe you either have really large fingers or a very small mouse. either way no issue on my end with the rose.

I use it all the time mostly for jumping through gates and docking since it's really fast once you get the hang of it. I like it a lot and couldn't live without it tbh. Learn to control a mouse and don't just randomly click everywhere tbh.

Don't think I ever use it intentionally myself, but I can appreciate that if you're used to the directions on it then it'd be great. (Some games I use this type of menu in alot, never got used to EVEs for some reason)

Really it's yet another feature that needs option to turn off in settings, that way everyone's happy with the outcome. If the 'feature' of having your ship fly towards the object when you click "open cargo" could get a toggle at the same time I'd be even happier, that one causes me far more WTF moments when I've accidentally clicked "open cargo" on not-yet-tractored-in wreck and ended up miles across a mission for no good reasonUgh

I cant see it being faster than the selected items window. There is an inherent delay just to get the thing up in the first place.

Also, you try to be careful when spinning your camera around while signigicantly zoomed out to get an idea of whats happening during pvp. So less of the missioners telling people to l2p please lol.

The mmb setting on that menu solves this for me, but i guess a lot of people use mmb for comms so it wouldnt work for everyone.
