Starter packs question

Hi,

So i'm not new to eve but didnt know where to put this (this forum seems appropriate tho)

Steam has a midweek sale on eve online starter packs and I was looking into finally starting a second account but there is something i would like to know first

If i end up getting the starter pack, is the account going to be trial or not for the first 30 days? I fully intend to pay monthly after that but since the core starter pack is so cheap now on steam, no reason to start paying fully from the get go.

On steam the EVE Online - Core Starter Pack is on a 75% discount atm which brings the price down to 5E instead of 19E.

i think it's better to start a trial account referred by your main account (you did say you want to start a second account, right?).
you will get a plex on your main when you subscribe the trial account and that plex is worth more than the tiny benefits you get with a starter account, which is some starter ships, coats and things that together have very little isk value, opposed to a PLEX.
and you also win game time. the starter packs start a normal account from day 1, while trial + subscribe gives you an extra month.

If you sub a trial on day one you still get the trial period game time. You don't loose that.

I'm not sure what you are tying to accomplish but there is no reason that you can't start a trial account and then put time on that account immediately making it no longer a trial and not subject to the trial account limitations.

Plus you essentially get 3 months worth of game time for the cost on one month. You get the one month trial time plus the month of game time that you added plus you get the choice of either a month of game time or a PLEX on your main's account that you did the refer-a-friend link from.

Right, I thought of that myself, to make use of the buddy program thing but for some reason I assumed its illegal to use it for your own 2nd account.

Well ok then, ill just make a trial account with the buddy program and sub it.

Thanks!

Every alt account I have was a buddy invite to myself.

It is perfectly acceptable.

CCP Applebabe once agreed (as have other CCP employees, but I don't have those posts bookmarked):

sounds like they have new player deals through CCP right now too. so probably worth making the buddy invite and then checking. AFAIK as soon as you pay or activate an account it goes full.

imo saving a few euros doesn't sound worth it for having to deal with a steam account :<

It's acceptable to use buddy account for yourself. More subscriptions = more money for CCP; whether it's 2 customers or 1 customer paying for 2 accounts doesn't really matter.
