Have you downloaded and installed the most current launcher? I had a similar exception and this corrected it:

When opening the in-game browser, my client opens just a blank browser, and when I try to close it, the whole client freezes.

This appears to be a common error when using the new launcher. If not EVERY mac user from a verbal poll of players I know.

It SHOULD still work hopefully with the old one. If it can update. (A reinstall fixes that if it will not do that)

CCP appear reluctant to do ANYTHING with IGB issues as they are removing it eventually, but they have not released alternatives at this time.

So we have the worst of all situations, they won't fix the IGB because they are removing it, and we cannot use anything but the IGB because they are writing new tools. Bit of a catch 22 they REALLY need to get on top of.

I know they have priorities, they are doing amazing work, But Mac users are no longer weird unusual people who can be counted on 1 hand, Macs have become mainstream!

Launcher originally patched the game correctly, but now when I open the launcher it says it can't complete the patch and it has failed. It then opens a window and pukes out the following error.

Yep Me too on these issues.

Old Launcher has that... File "lib/update.pyc", line 233, in CreatePatch issue.

I have tried replacing the patcher but i think it is just incompatible with OSX.

I have an option 'launch eve' which I can do, i get in, but then the IGB brings a blank page and crashes my computer as I try to close it.

OR

I have tried the beta launcher, which kindly didn't migrate my settings and crashes the IGB when i open it.


So Crash IGB before or after mainly...

I am not sure I can play the game like this, I use a bunch of browser based tools

I thought I had mine problem worked out. Then they performed another update and now all my character profiles are missing. I have two account that I'm trying to remember how I had them set up. I really getting tired of all the problems that occur every time they update. All six of my character have been reset back to when they first logged in. I gave up complaining about the IGB months ago when I learned they were suppose to replace it because it was broken and they were't going to fix it. At this point, I've extended my game time for six month but if things don't start getting better for Macs i'm probably going to call it quits. I'm getting tired of paying out money and not getting everything the game has to offer.

Suggestion to use the new launcher ..

32char alphanumeric passwords .. but you havent fixed the paste bug yet

should I - switch to easy passwords - CCP doesn't recommend
Spend hours on workarounds or manual fixes .. as usual - (or in this case .. the old repair tool works thank fark for that)


EVE .. its a lot like being in an abusive relationship ..

Using steam. Beta launcher is not an option. Hope every else is having fun with the new Eve content. Us MAC users will have to watch on twitch and YouTube and congratulate every one loot drops that we will never personally see due to software bugs. :-)

Original update seemed to work, then client crashed with the usual info people have pasted above. Downloaded beta launcher and "moved" my profile to the new client. The profile seems to not have copied over correctly and my UI is just like it was when I started the game, including the new player video and Aura asking if she can help. Interestingly my sound is now broken. Even on my mac sound has stopped. I use an external sound card (an iMic). If I unplug the sound returns for the Mac, but not the client. I can then replug the USB card in (for my earbuds), and sound continues for my Mac, but the game is dead silent. Stopping and restarting the client once again kills sound for my Mac until I do the unplug/replug kludge.

PS: ok, found where I pick my profile on the beta launcher, not very intuitive there, so profile works. Sound however is borked and continues killing sound on my Mac. (OS X 10.9.5)

Edit: a reboot fixed the sound issue. I know windows boxes need rebooting to fix things all the time but macs generally go on and one without a reboot. Somehow Cider or some other component that got downloaded / installed doesn't play nice. However, sound once again seems to work after reboot. Annoying.

1. I get the launcher bug. Fixed by switching to new launcher, apart from then losing all my settings
2. Browser is just black. Not so hot in a wormhole corp - we rely on Siggy
3. Game crashed twice in 15 mins. Had to kill client

Click little gear to right of your Profile name on the launcher. It'll say 'edit profile'. In the new dialog box that comes up drag your old profile over to the right under Tranq to update the profile. Then click on your profile name's radio box (once again, at the little gear icon) to choose it as your profile to use when you start game. Not very intuitive but ...

Same error also for me, tried the new launcher and lost all my settings like people before me. The launcher claims to have copied the preivous settings but.. well, you know. With multiple characters this mac client stuff is starting to be a real pain in the ass. Straight

Yes, the first time you run the Beta launcher you have to start with fresh settings...

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

however, i was able to get around that:
problem is, that the link to the 'current' version in awesomium framework seems to be missing.
so since the current version right now seems to be 1.0, you can do the following.

open terminal and type away:
cd /Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Frameworks/Awesomium.framework/Versions/
ln -s 1.0/ Current

next time the update works, but the link seems to get deleted by every new update, so i guess until ccp fixes this, you will have to do this again for the next update.

I totally agree with you.


I'm actually kind of shocked that CCP was okay with releasing this for OS X users after multiple complaints about the same issue.

At first I was only having the IGB issue with the beta launcher, so I quickly went back to using the old launcher.

I realized today after patching that CCP has implemented this browser issue into this version of the client, leaving me without any workaround whatsoever.

Our alliance keeps track of member participation through the IGB with PAP Links (participation links.) So even though this isn't a big deal for some, the IGB is a vital tool for many others.

Some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The link keeps on getting deleted for me too. It looks like the launcher bounces between downloading a 6.65MB and 13.10MB patch. You can copy instead of linking (which may break future updates), but fixes the immediate problem.

Sigh, Well the IGB was working yesterday when I tried it. But as of today it's not loading any web content at all (it's just all black) and will freeze the client as normal but only after I try to close it.

Wish I had known before spending real money on buying Eve that buying Eve on Steam for Mac OSX was a total waste of money


Eve is 100% unplayable now. IGB hangs the game and new release features ARE NOT WORKING on OSX. I can't use ANY tools required by my corp. I can't even be in game long enough without crashing to mine a single asteroid.

SO WTF CCP. You've completely screwed MAC OS users. Game is a NO GO. Non-starter. Do we get a refund? Do we get some refund Pilots Licenses? Refund loot from this holidays activities? DO WE EVER GET A PLAYABLE GAME THAT DOESN'T CRASH!?!?!!??!?!?!


Get your f'ing act together already.

At this point I seriously demand a refund and compensation for not being able to participate in any in game activity due to the fact that MAC OS users are second class citizens and Eve simply DOES NOT WORK NOW.

STUPID crashing and the IGB crashing Eve every time. I'm freaking PISSED OFF. I want a refund. YOU guys can seriously DO OVER your entire Frost events when the freaking game works for all players.

This rant is NOT off. I'll rant and RANT some more until OS X users are treated on par with the other people. We PAY the same price to play and DEMAND the same level of service.

Has the issue with the patch not updating on mac been fixed??
To be frank, it is unacceptable that users have to use a "beta" launcher to make their game work due to the "stable" launcher being broken.
