The December release has been deployed on December 8 during an extended downtime.

This release introduces 13 completely new ships together with the revolutionary Micro Jump Field Generator, amazing new visual (damage) effects, new falloff range mechanics for remote repair modules and energy neuts/nos, a massive increase in grid size from 250 km to 8000 km, a huge amount of module rebalances, PVP killmarks on ship hulls, and so much more. Explore the full scope on EVE Updates!

Alongside those new features we see the emergence of Operation Frostline, the cluster wide storyline event promising profitable loot and a good amount of spaceship action. Check out the Operation Frostline dev blog!

Additionally we see a good amount of Mac Client specific upgrades and improvements.

The full details of all changes and improvements are available in the December release patch notes.

For general discussion and to report issues with the release on the Mac, please post in this thread.

For general discussion of this release on the PC, please use the general feedback thread.
To report release related issues on the PC, please post in the PC issues thread.

December Update: Mac Graphic Anomalies
• High Shader settings: Coaks, engine exhausts, trails and missile contrails are all pixelated. Ship previews are occasionally transparent (no clipping).
• Shield: Shield hits are barely visible and there are no effects for shield hardeners and shield boosters
• Armor: There are no effects for armor hardeners or reactive armor control
• Damage: There are no repair effects when activating armor and hull repairers on damaged systems
• Nebulae: The nebulas all look low-res and pixelated now (this was first reported on SiSi over a month ago, and others have reported that this is due to changing the FOV with the pending new camera controls).

Noted that this is a Cider issue with volumetric textures (just compiling a list).
.....

December Update: Performance
• Performance with the December update has exceeded all expectations. I'm consistently seeing a frame rate in excess of 80-100 FPS (with all graphical options including anti-aliasing enabled). Even in dense asteroid or mission environments it's typically over 40 FPS. The end result is that gameplay seems much more fluid and seamless.
.....

Updated Dec-9.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Otherwise the updates to the Mac version are outstanding and it's outperforming previous versions.

Hey Arthur, this is a problem with Cider's handling of volume textures. They know about it. As for a fix ETA, I'm not sure.

IMPORTANT!

We are receiving sporadic reports from people using the old launcher that the patch process is failing in some instances.

I'd like to get everyone to try out the new launcher to resolve this, available here: https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-976381.dmg

I was using the BETA Launcher (v988834) and it worked flawlessly for me (there was a short update prior to the Dec 8 release, but nothing today - so I assume most of the files were downloaded from when I enabled SiSi?)

I get my cloak back (yay!) along with anti-aliasing, but miss out on all the cool new shield stuff (bah). None of the cool armor or hull repair effects, either (sigh)...

Could you please tell me which version of the Beta launcher you are using?

The error that El Ninio pasted is only generated by the 'old' launcher, not the Beta Launcher. Can you start the EVE Launcher BETA version 988834 ?

If so, can you check View->Logging?

I reinstalled the new launcher and it now appears to be working in spite of the fact that all my previous settings have been lost. Is there anyway to recover my previous overview, station, etc. settings?

Could you try going to View->Client Settings? You should have a window that finds the client settings present on your computer, which you can migrate so your current launcher uses them.

What is going on with this stupid launcher? I logged off and when I came back there was another update and when it was completed I logged in and found all my settings reset again. So, I logged out of the game and went into the settings only to find that I only had the default profile. What happened to my old profile? This is ridiculous!l How can I get my old profile back CCP Maxwell?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the beta launcher is not an option until you provide facilities to replace the IGB out of game.

I also had these problems patching, Only solved by a full reinstall.

Failing to ensure the IGB is working is not an acceptable way to proceed If you wish to retain MAC users.
This is the worst of all scenarios, IGB effectively removed, No replacement facilities ready.

However Great praise for all the wonderful work you are doing otherwise to improve the game.

PS wine install still works with old launcher.

After the update the current (not beta) launcher displayes a pop up box with this error near the top. The status bar at the bottom says 'Client update was unsuccessful'. I'm using OSX 10.9.5. Is there a current step-by-step for getting my client settings from the old launcher into the beta if that becomes the only way some mac users will be able to log in?
