The NPC population

as far ive understood, there "is" a npc population, but not ingame. Why CCP havent made a more visible and interacting NPC population, i cant say.

But i would like to see a more visible and interacting npc population, which affect players in different ways. Both positive and negative ways.

Like on planets where a population has settled, there will be a much higher demand for Food related articles, luxury goods, clothes ect ect at the nearby stations to that planet. Also, in nullsec, a neglected npc population could revolt against their sov/station owners and take controll of that system and claim Independence...

Also With a more visible and interacting npc population, Corporations shoud be able to hire from the npc population to preform various task (With a penalty since the task aint preformed by a player).

Feel free to add to this idea

I like this more than the other one. CCP is toying with npc courier ideas ...
... and I look forward to all the tears from people who use them.

I doubt planet inhabitants in nullsec have a chance again demigodlike capsuleers who command spaceships multi kilometer long...

On the other hand this opens the option for you to nuke the planet of your neighbours from orbit taking away his workforce.

If the ephemerata can't manage to claw their way out of the gravity well they languish in they are of no significance.

because EVE-o is about player-player interactions - not player-NPC interactions

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

Classic problem with this is that in several days there would be no more functional planets anywhere in new eden... even a single battleship can in one volley render a planet fully uninhabitable... I mean i'm not saying i did the math once... I dont get that bored in undergrad science classes...

I don't i swear... A megathron would BREAK A PLANET INTO PIECES firing antimatter **** I SAID IT ANYWAYS! I

What if it had an effect on manufacturing times? The NPC population could be used as a labor force. The larger the labor force the more they could produce. The opposite would also be true; low labor force limits the manufacturing capabilities.

Also, to add to the original idea, we could boost the population growth by importing food, luxury items, etc. and making the planet more desirable overall...

It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

Yeah, but it's about 100km from surface to space so most megathrons would be out of range.

yet that is what many in EvE choose to do, play against NPC "populations" of "drones", from mission running to WH, to FW to virtually every aspect in the game. in fact i'd go so far as to say the direct PVP aspect of EvE is actually less important to majority of players and or less of a general focus, sure those in Low/Null might be more PVP focussed around player-player interaction but in High (where majority of players live/operate) player-npc interaction is a main "aspect" of the emergent gameplay CCP promotes.
