Never liked Reddit. Ugly and non-inspiring in it's design, hard to follow sometimes with comments on comments on posts with up/down voting gone wild. No imagery and just... bleh. It seems to be the meta for today's generation though. Good platform for 'discussions' though I've yet to see anything productive, more just entertainment for those who enjoy trash talking or controversy.

I never browse it. Though I did make an acc this year purely to comment on Iso5 related stuff.

Twitter is Twitter as always. Celebrity news, what people had for dinner, etc. Never felt like it fits the genre of a thing like EVE or any game/fictional setting. I can see it's use for Dev personal announcements or antics in the office between staffers but not really a great 'social' platform or something to use for discussions.

Don't have an account. Can't ever see the need to get one.

Slack is great, for social interaction. Useless in terms of showcasing anything or releasing news as it's real-time. Thus it's discussion value is also limited, if you're not active on it while the discussion is hot then you've missed out and will have to read through hundreds of posts just to see what was even said.

I use Iso5 slack heavily and love it for corp level social stuff. Don't use tweetfleet.

So overall you really can't beat the value and potential of a good old standard forum platform like we have here IMO in terms of discussions and news. It's a shame it's underused in some facets, and the way it's arranged and restricted makes it hard to use as a purely social tool. The best social options being right here in OOPE really.

Reddit is unfortunate, as itt is popularity based. Which basically means that the "top" content on it is usually the stupidest thing imagineable.

Ah, the joys of a new computer! Like, going to my parent's to post from the old computer because *someone* frogot to bring a ethernet cable for the new computer!

And before that, the joys of linking a video card to a new screen! Should be easy, right? Three Displayport ports on the computer, three on the screen, what could go wrong? Aside of a error message saying that there's no Displayport cable attached to the screen...?

45 minutes later, I googled for help using my SmartTV and turned that the new Dell screen I bought can't detect the active Displayport port. By default, it tries to link through the standard-sized nº1 port, but, the cable supplied with the screen is a standard DP --> miniDP cable, so unless yur GFX card haves a miniDP port, you'll end up linking the cable to the miniport (port nº 2). And good luck figuring that in that case, the screen won't tell that port nº2 is live so you'll need to use the OSD and select manually said port nº2!

I felt like CCP had a part in the design of that screen. Providing a cable which forces your users to link it to a port which the screen won't detect... what a hilarious practical joke! Lol

On the other hand, moving some 160 Gb of stuff from the old computer to the new one was pretty painless. I hope that reinstalling EVE & other software will go smoothly once I have internet access on the new computer...

Smoothless? Hu?

So... rough and bumpy?

Ouch! Painless was the word. Moving from the old computer to a external disk took longer than 3 hours, moving form the external disk to the new computer was done in under 2 hours.

I like smoothless. :D

I will attempt to make that word more common. ^_^
That's a good start to get into the game again. :D

I've never liked reddit, and it's most unfortunate that so many new players just use it and CCP devs follow them... "Community managed" is the thing that dethroned "designed by committee" in the ranks of idiocy.

The truth never has been popular. There is no greater lie than the one a community picks as their favorite...

Reddit feels like it gives a home to many jobless and brainless,
but over 50% of these simply adapt to the social environment of mentally cheap pseudoindividuals.

Reddit is full of cheap labor easily kept happy by bread and circus.

I'm still learning how to make them give me upvotes. It's not that easy actually,
because the hivemind mentalities differ between timezones and even workdays...

Fascinating!

Mass gatherings of people are always haven for stupidity. Nobody ever realises it though, because confirmation bias is a thing. I mean, if so many people are saying something, it must be true, right?

Oh. Yeah no worries.

I'll take a quick look tonight. Haven't looked at it in ages.

Cool, when I try to view it I get this message along with a bunch of code :

You should absolutely consider writing/creating interactive novels.
I feel like you'd be good and make quite a bit on the sides from that.

Edit: This showed up as top result googling for an interactive novel creator: http://twinery.org/
