Test overnight at my new place, the bed is fine (=warm enough) but I better fire the heating to warm up the place each evening... tested the heating this morning and took half an hour to rise the temperature to a comfortable level (outside 8º C, inside set at 15º C).

Meanwhile the list of things for the "last trip" keeps growing and I'm considering to recruit someone to help with all the sh*t that needs to be moved. Not just a compuetr, a screen and a TV and a suitcase, but now a second suitcase will be needed to carry some foodies I forgot to carry yesterday. Unless I become Shiva and get myself some extra arms, this is going to be troublesome with the only help of a cab.

And I am seriously thanking that, being my first home, I haven't needed to move any furniture on top of all other the stuff...

15º C is hot enough for a t-shirt.

This is why in my city, tourists and other aliens wear t-shirts in November... Cool

I can be absolutely sure that it is not me who causes this thread to be so ..... slow.

Although, actually, it might be me. Attempting not to influence something still influences something,
because in any other case influence would have been there which obviously would alter the outcome.

Fascinating!

The most interesting, right now, is that inevitably someone will read this message
and that the decision to respond has already been made even before the person started reading the message.

Unless that person is indecisive about responding, of course.

forums are slow for some time, something like half a year of slightly less, but near that timespan.

Nonetheless, people are still posting the same threads over and over again.

It was a day when the forum post became sentient

It's a pretty slow moving thread these days.

Little bursts of a few pages here and there.

A lot of readers but not many posters. I remember the old thread would get a new view every 5 seconds or so, sometimes even more but nowhere near the posts to match that hehe. Without watching the forum index I'd guess this new thread is similar.

And night night!

Morning here and I'm just waking. Time to cook breakfast then clean up my daughter's mess.

Rarely does a re-make ever equal to or surpass an original.

Anyway, it's not just this thread, all of the sub-forums are much slower now compared to how these forums were in the past. I know people don't like hearing this but it could be a symptom of reduced player subscriptions and or reduced player log in's.

Either that or most everybody now post's on Reddit and we're just the last of the Mohicans.

Ugh

Reddit, Slack and Twitter.

I think overall there's much more discussion about Eve than there used to be. It's just occurring on more social platforms than in the past.

All 4 are good, but the others have some advantages over the forums.

Yeah, I agree but it's still sad to see these forums becoming less active.

@ Scipio Artelius,

The 2014 LAGL Halloween Contest site link is broken - http://laglhalloween.appspot.com/

I think you did an excellent job on the site, it was a cool event and definitely something new and different, basically created a new version of Avatar contest which probably even surprised CCP.

Anyway, every once in a while I like to view it and read the comments on each contestants portrait.

Hope the site can be easily fixed.

Never liked Reddit. Ugly and non-inspiring in it's design, hard to follow sometimes with comments on comments on posts with up/down voting gone wild. No imagery and just... bleh. It seems to be the meta for today's generation though. Good platform for 'discussions' though I've yet to see anything productive, more just entertainment for those who enjoy trash talking or controversy.

I never browse it. Though I did make an acc this year purely to comment on Iso5 related stuff.

Twitter is Twitter as always. Celebrity news, what people had for dinner, etc. Never felt like it fits the genre of a thing like EVE or any game/fictional setting. I can see it's use for Dev personal announcements or antics in the office between staffers but not really a great 'social' platform or something to use for discussions.

Don't have an account. Can't ever see the need to get one.

Slack is great, for social interaction. Useless in terms of showcasing anything or releasing news as it's real-time. Thus it's discussion value is also limited, if you're not active on it while the discussion is hot then you've missed out and will have to read through hundreds of posts just to see what was even said.

I use Iso5 slack heavily and love it for corp level social stuff. Don't use tweetfleet.

So overall you really can't beat the value and potential of a good old standard forum platform like we have here IMO in terms of discussions and news. It's a shame it's underused in some facets, and the way it's arranged and restricted makes it hard to use as a purely social tool. The best social options being right here in OOPE really.
