you don't fix it. you wait for a new beta version

there is a memory leak in a process launched by the launcher, this process fail and die after eating all the memory it can, then you get that empty screen

close the launcher, then restart the launcher will work (don't to that too quickly so windows can free the ram)

what I do : I launch my clients, and close the launcher before it crashes
I don't usually switch toon that much anyway

I like the launcher and the flexibility it provides.

My only issue is that the launcher's Windows Taskbar icon and text are very similar to the game's taskbar icon and text. I invariably click the wrong one. Adding "Launcher" to the taskbar text would be appropriate seeing as that's what's up at the top of the thing when you run it and presumably what it is actually named.

We are investigating a memory leak that is causing crashes in QtWebEngineProcess.exe. Should be fixed soon.

I used to link my eve folder entirely to a new harddisk because of the same matters as you have, a small SSD as system drive

2) did you use the launcher or the eve installer to move your shared resource cache to another harddisk -
as the CCP's advice says , the shared resource cache is now the biggest part of eve - even more so in the beta launcher

the new beta launcher even downloads new eve clients and stores them in the same folder as the shared resource cache - which is also the reason for starting as if eve was newly installed - it creates new settings folders that are empty at first ...

Roster so far :

eve client 250 to 300 mbyte per client installation
shared resource files about 16 gb

Thus I get about 17 GB of Shared Cache - the beta launcher stored another 4 eve clients - one for each Server I use (TQ, SISI, Duality, Solace)

GUI 1.731 has been deployed. Should fix the memory leak and the Web GUI crash.

Restart the beta launcher to get the new GUI version.

hovering and clicking on server list make the qtwebengine memory go from around 100M to 300M but it doesn't seems to go over that
not approaching the mouse in this region and clicking play keeps the launcher under 150M for QTWebengine


and support and account button do not work anymore, patch note and feedback links works.

Btw: after the GUI update I got the same QTweb-errors, several client crashes and finally a BSOD.

Then reboot ... started the Beta Launcher, it asked for fixing like someone earlier posted: http://puu.sh/lGJ2Y/f0710da0e5.jpg

I recall you did it years ago ... guys ... I'm using Market-Quickbar to plan Trading and Industry-jobs ... it got killed again. You promissed to fix it 3 or 4 years ago or even tell us before any launcher renames anything in order to save the settings - files. Cry

EDIT: Ok, not sure what that was ... after I terminated the white window waited 5 minutes, the launcher works fine now. Will report if I get anything else.

Please DON'T kill the settings again! It's so frustrating to loose the entire market-quickbar! This is a major case. No fun at all. This is the third time it happened. I still have the convo with Senior GM Xamother ... From 2011!

I googled the issue, but there's nothing new about this, only the old information, but after the change, I don't know how to recover my list.

The Vertical scaling seems to mostly be based on the number of accounts inserted. Scale down the window in height and you get that annoying scroll bar on the accounts. I would actually rather see the ads moving out of the way. I've seen the ads - all day actually, lets move on.

Horizontally the launcher width is not used very much. I would like to have more information for each account. As I suggest bellow. Yes I do like the background picture, but it is a launcher.

  • Separate the regular game profiles from the screen selection, make both profile selection and screen selection a per account pull down menu.
  • When reducing the size of the launcher vertically, shrink or move the ads to make space for the accounts part. This to reduce the number of times the scroll bar on the accounts is used.
  • Right after the account name have pictures of each of the char's on that account.
  • Please make the "Unlink Account" a bit smaller or harder to hit. It is so right next to profile selection I have managed to hit it multiple times. Ugh

Under Settings -> Language, the language selection options should not be hidden in a drop down menu with so much blank space available. Instead, the available languages should be displayed as rectangular buttons and the active language should be highlighted in blue.

Dident see a bug report in the client so guess the reports should go here

I have a setup with 3 1920*1080 monitors
So normally i start up 3 clients .
And then i set them up so i have one client in each monitor.
Unfortunally i have to change to the correct monitors each time as they all default to monitor 1
Thats with the normal client.

So lets try the beta client and see if it remember my settings
I start up 3 clients and change the first from monitor 1 to monitor 2
Then i cllick on the second client and change it from monitor 1 to monitor 3
But the first client then goes down to taskbar again:(
So using the beta client i can only have 1 client up at one time.

Have anyone been able to have 2 or more client up at the same time on different monitors using the beta client?

Having multiple clients up at a time is not a problem. You would need to 1) have a profile for each screen, or 2) change the monitor when it is started. If you change the screen location it would seem the last client to close a profile overwrites the profile. I have suggested a few improvements in a post above. The profile in addition to containing the screen placement also contain all the game profile settings (chats, and other ingame settings), so I have suggested splitting the ingame settings and the screen selection into two different choices.

I have a profile at present for each screen, but then I need to make modifications ingame if I move char's around.

EDIT: Also, Alt + TAB on Win 7 brings up the choice of your clients so you can get hold of minimized clients.

It works now
I made 3 profiles and applied each of them to each client

Also i had forgot to put the clients on fixed windowsOops

I use Eve on a laptop in fullscreen mode for performance reasons. I switch between sessions with alt-tab. Now that the launcher makes it easier to be on both Tq and Singularity using the same account and character I find myself using the test server more often.

Right now the window names shown in alt-tab for Sisi and Tq are the same (EVE - CharacterName). To make it easier using alt-tab to select the window for a specific test server, could you add the server name to the window title please?

I do not believe that the new way of indicating active accounts is a great step forward. Now the name is green, which is better, but also the switch for multi launch is green and does not change state/color when you toggle the switch, which is counter-intuitive. Just see reason and do what I suggested and what you already had in an earlier version of the launcher to indicate active clients. How hard can that be? I mean, it is not like you do not have that already. The tabs in the settings are not underlined; their box is filled with a slightly lighter tone. When you click on one of the options on the left side bar, they splash and fill with color for a moment and do not underline. How can you be so inconsistent?

And a real bug: Under Settings -> Languages, the drop down menu now only has English. All the other languages are gone.

One good thing, however: Clicking on the speech bubble to show notifications now also hides them again. That's good. Smile

For some odd reason, my beta launcher can't connect to sisi.

I only get the failed connection exception in the exe window.

However the whole launcher works with TQ (even if the setting export is a bit bugged)

I think this is because eve is not installed at the default location on my HDD. Might be I can fix it by reinstalling eve on the default location and refreshing the launcher. But for now I will probably just stick with the normal one on TQ

Really enjoy using the beta launcher now that I figured out how to migrate my old settings over for each of my accounts.

I especially love the "multi-launch" feature where I can press a button once and launch EVE for all of my accounts without having to type in all of my account names and make sure I clicked "eveexe.exe" enough times. I do have a suggestion though:

SUGGESTION FOR MULTI-LAUNCH
- Allow us to set a "target" monitor for each account in the launcher settings (or even in game). I run all of my clients in window mode that is essentially FS window allowing me to tab in and out or have browser windows open.
- I always make sure to have certain accounts on one monitor, and other accounts on another monitor. It has to do with screen real-estate and which are more of logistics toons.
- One pain in the ass that still exists when launching multiple accounts at once is making sure I drag each window to the proper monitor when I start playing. I haven't yet found a way for EVE to "remember" which monitor I like to run the game, and I doubt even if I did it would be able to remember which preference I had specific to each account.

Otherwise, no real complaints so far. Thanks!

I might have missed the point in your post, but is there a reason why you prefer 'Window mode' over 'Fixed Window' mode?
With Fixed window mode you are able to allocate a profile to a particular monitor. The downside is that it also contains all the rest of your settings. Monitor selection is done in the Display & Graphics => Display Adapter. I just changed mine to 'Window mode' and here I see, as you state, that you are unable to use the monitor choice; even though it is selected correctly.
