Nice new thread.

I will try to read it (more) later when I have more time...

PI resources are used by POS, for fuel and other requirements.
There seemed to have been quite a few requirements which I didn't have the time to verify yet.

I also read that there is no small Citadel release planned for the first release set which would be medium, large and extra-large (alliance and coalition oriented).

I don't know if the mediums are the ones at 600m ISK as they very well may be 7b ISK instead.

I don't know about changing the PI (Planetary Interaction) UI (User-Interface).
Apparently, I could improve my PI production for sales since I managed to improve my lauching and pick-up times, as well as keep the tax to less than my costs.

However, you must realize that if there is no need for some of the PI production, to be used POS or other, then, what is it good for?

Thank you for your response.
Not to be rude, I had a hard time following your train of thought - but I know mine is even harder to follow.

--I am not speaking of citadels at all, but suggesting that we have 3 to 4 sizes of PI Command Ceneter.
--Players would be able to fit their Commabd Centers in different ways that focus on the differing aspects of PI. Extraction, Production, and a third point being Nurturing.
--PI materials would be looked over and see if they still have a purpose in the game, if yes they are kept. If not, ether find a purpose or scrap.

Before I reply to you, I will try to read some more of what was answered after.
However, I was just sent home from work after working a whole day with stretched ligaments causing pain in my right hand and paying for transport, with promises of income for my investment.
My hand currently is stronger than it was yesterday, although it is swollen.
So, I guess, I have to sue the parties liable in the proper courts dealing with this kind of case, discrimination, and propaganda...

First , you mention about :
"... but suggesting that we have 3 to 4 sizes of PI Command Ceneter."

Command Center already have 3 to 4 sizes.
You have to upgrade them to access the other sizes.

As I promptly wrote, to make sure not to offend anyone was that I did not read the text , neither did I have the time to.
That way, there is no innuendos as to how hard or complicated you might be, or about my level of understanding of your subject matters, or about my level of understanding skills , or trying to diminish you, or make you feel bad.

Then, you followed by:
"--Players would be able to fit their Commabd Centers in different ways that focus on the differing aspects of PI. Extraction, Production, and a third point being Nurturing."

> Extraction is done with the Extractors and the Extractor heads.
> Some of the Production part includes those factories or processing plants, which literally transform an input into an output.
I don't know about Nurturing.

And last:
"--PI materials would be looked over and see if they still have a purpose in the game, if yes they are kept. If not, ether find a purpose or scrap."

I don't know why PI materials that have no purpose in the game would be kept.
I don't know if they could find other purpose than the initial ones.
I don't know about how it would be scrap (or scrapped).

Sure honey, why not create new ways to make everything even more expensive as it is?

And why wouldn't want to be pinned to your planets all day long when you are going on a roam to cause some involuntary disassemblies?

I have the feeling your being sarcastic, and I will remain in check or clueless.

I don't think it would make things more expensive, a small would be as good as any players PI right now if they had like 3-4 planets and all their skills where level 4

And what part pins you to the planet??? You set it up, put it on the planet you want and let it do its thing. Just like PI now.

I was referring to the combat part. In that case you would constantly "guard" your PI so that not some dude blows your PI up for zee giggles.

That would increase the pricetag on everything that requires planetary stuff. Tech 2 ships, ammo, some modules and so on.

Okay. Thank you. It is late for me so my brain isn't connecting all the dots.

The current state of EVE - isn't ready for PI that can support a combat situation.
Someday, yeah, it would be cool to have. Plus, that would allow for players/Allainces to lay claim to planets to provide structures and other things that blow up or blow stuff up. Which drives a chaos market like what we have.
Fifth Element comes to mind. If everything that was made never blew up, there would come a point to never make anything new.

PI and combat is dealt with DUST 514.
Once a DUST 514 unit controls a planetary sector, the manufacturing and extraction done there is under their control.
I am not sure of how that system works exactly, but that is something like that.
There is a way to attack other EVE Online players PI structures on the planet.

Also, there is interaction with the planetary bombardment which is now easier to do than before.
(Note that , DUST 514 is also free, and therefore, it can be free to attack your PI competition that way.
The DUST 514 part is more free than the costs related to the EVE Online Planetary Bombardment.)

Dust districts are nothing to do with PI currently, and even if they were Dust should never be required to fight over something that is owned by an EVE pilot.
So no, there is no way to attack someone elses PI currently.

Amarisen Gream wrote:

On the second part - are you saying we limit PI to players in player corps so that a method can be used to cause harm to those PI colonies during war?

And yes, yes I am. Make it come with the requirement of 'landing' your own PI colony, so that someone can't just run around and casually burn other peoples colonies at basically zero cost after the wardec (though how they would find them in the first place....)
Or some other such requirement that makes you 'commit' to owning the space once you've burnt the other guy out. So that wars over PI become a thing with assets actually at risk.

TBH, I don't expect to see any real PI love anytime soon. Some little QOL changes would be nice. I'd just like to be able to save structure patterns that I frequently use as a template.

No worries, I wasn't trying to bash you or shut you down, since for the most part all your industry related posts have value even when I keep out of them.
I am mostly concerned about the consequnces and killing ships. Though finding something to shoot in the last few weeks is becoming tedious at best.

I'd suggest

get rid of player owned custom houses - in theory it makes for content, in practice it just makes people less likely to bother

make pi more readily known - I doubt many new players even know it is a thing

make the scanning more accurate

make a mini game of the whole thing by including marines/slaves/exotic dancers/dairy products/wheat/seeds/and all the various stuff that doesn't have any real use in the game - but you seem to aquire

Thank you! I guess I am so used to having the feeling that people are attacking my ideas, that I'm to much on the defensive.

And yeah - most of my ideas tend to be way out there in scope and goal, but I am grateful for mention that for the most part my post have value.

Thank you!

Youre welcome! I know it looks hard here in the forums talking and I heard about people actually reading what we say and fear of being shut down or ridiculed.
That fear even keeps them from bringing an idea that could be great. I also heard someone say that we tend to "police" here but this is not the case even if it looks that way at first.

Some of the idas that come up every so often are just that and we already laid out in detail why it is not a good idea, sometimes even more that a few times.

If you take a look in the old forum archive you stumble upon my first posts and I was talking to a much more experienced audience at the time.
Over the years and without realizing it at first some of our words actually gain in weight and some feel that they cannot ever compete with that which also isn't true.

You are right that I am being sarcastic sometimes when I strongly believe it fits the case or I am making a point. Different people, different opinions and we also do not always see eye to eye here either.

Now that would be a really boring discussion forum if we always agreed on everything.

Great - the draft ate my post.

I really wish CCP would invest in updating the intelligence of the forums.

The only part of PI that is terrible is the setup. The fact that you need multiple factories and click each one a bazillion times is dumb. I don't understand why we can't get upgradable factories (like command centers so that 1 would have the capability of up to 5) with automatic routing or popups that eliminate the unnecessary clickfest. It physically hurts me to set up PI. I feel like that shouldn't be part of this game. If CCP can make this happen, it would fix most issues.

Temperate Planet Resources and Dust 514
old post but maybe irrelevant

PLANETARY CONQUEST: AN UPDATE
EVE BONUSES FOR OWNING DISTRICTS:
* A bonus to the manufacturing time of Player Owned Starbase (POS) around that planet.
* A bonus to the fuel consumption of POS around that planet.
* A bonus to Planetary Interaction (PI) output on that planet.
btw, I do not know what they mean by SI in the article.
to:
Planetary Conquest
Surface Infrastructure
...
Currently there are three types of Surface Infrastructure (SI) currently available to be used to modify a district.

PLANETARY CONQUEST: BUILDING AN EMPIRE FROM THE GROUND UP

Those explain more about planetary district.

I read about the interaction with PI before, but it may have never been implemented.

As mentioned above, Planetary Conquest in DUST 514 affects PI by a bonus to the PI output on that planet (along with other bonuses).
I didn't know there was 5 planetary district to 20 some districts.
I still didn't read how planetary conquest works (or functions).

I would like PI to be sharable with other players of my choosing, possibly able to rent to others for use. Planet to planet transfers without having to personaly ship it. A Corp/Alliance PI that is many time stronger or more greater in yeild than personal ones.

Maybe even a "networking" contract feature to interact with other players PI. Another player can setup a request for goods to their factory/processing plant which you can sent from your setup to theirs from planet to planet.

This was part of my original idea - but I failed to speak of it, and left it for others to bring up ideas for extra modules for the Command Centers.

Say your a player and have the funds to buy and fit a XL command Center
You don't really care about extraction of base goods but would rather invest in making the planet you are on have huger yields.
One of the service modules you fit is a Space Elevator - this allows players to get goods into space on a standing flow of goods.
Another service module you invest in is a Planetsry Trans-Net - allowing players to connect/ship their goods through you, with out having to invest in their own transport system.
