This was just a passing shower-thought, rather than anything fleshed out but here goes nothing!

How about introducing a buddy program for returning players?

It seems somewhat odd to me that i can send a personalized invite to bring a "friend" into eve for the first time, but there's no similar program for bringing people back to the game.

I've lost count of how many friends have drifted away over the years. The ones i keep in touch with all seem to remember eve reasonably fondly, and while i've persuaded several of them to give eve another shot it's a reasonably tall order to go from vague nostalgia to getting their credit-card out.

CCP already sends out "come back to eve" mailshots with the occasional deal, although for the most part the offers are fairly paltry. looking through my emails, £7.99 for your first month back seems to be a fairly common offer.

By comparison a new player can end up with 3 months of playtime for the price of 1, or a stack of cash to help them find their feet (assuming the plex gets donated to them).

There'd obviously need to be some sort of restrictions to prevent abuse (must have been unsubbed for at least a year seems like an easy one), but in concept why wouldn't CCP be willing to use the same "trial + trinket" model to try and reactivate existing accounts as-well as gain new ones? Surely at the end of the day a customer is a customer?

As fast as EVE numbers are dropping I don t think it is a bad idea.
