I am currently helping a friend who purchased a industrial bundle with a issue he is facing. When he starts any new pilots they are currently being created with only 55k skill points allocated. Shouldn't his new pilot be created with 300k+ skill points? He is playing through Steam currently. Any info on this issue would be appreciated.

Yes, I would assume that his new pilots should be getting created with the 390,000 - 406,000 sp or whatever the new ones are.

I would guess it's because those starters packs had a fixed assets list you gain maybe that's why the SP is also being a set rate.

Just created another newbie pilot. Started with 55,000 skill points.

It's been a week or so since this issue first appeared. No announcement or really any acknowledgement that this problem exists.

Yeah, a lot of that is going around lately. It is pretty BS. Best thing to do is file a support ticket, and with said character might be a good idea too. It's not a perfect solution, or even a guaranteed one at that, but again it's about the best thing to do for now.

Go there if you wish to do so out of game, or simply hit F12 in game to pull up the help window and click on "Submit Support Ticket". Select "Game Play Support" from the dropdown and fill in the rest as required. I would suspect the category should be "Reimbursement" unless I'm being a complete ditz.
