Launcher dead after Win 10 installation

Just installed Windows 10. Now when I start the Eve launcher, I get:

Exception during UpdaterModule.Update

File "lib\update.pyo", line 277, in GetNecessaryResourceFiles

Etc etc etc.

It then gives me two options - "OK" or "Start Eve".

Hitting OK leaves me with a nonfunctional Launcher.
Hitting "Start Eve" takes me to the old-style launch screen, which works fine and lets me enter the game.

Clearing cache hasn't helped, nor has running the repairer. Anyone seen this before?

Do u have regular or Beta launcher?

This was the regular launcher. I've just tried the Beta and everything works fine there, so I guess that solves that, thanks.

upgrading to windows 10 is nice but it does a number on ntfs permission in the common appdata folder (programdata)

you could have try to take ownership of the file back, or reset the rights on the folders

reinstalling the launcher, or run as administrator are fixes.

installing the new launcher is doing all of that and you get the new launcher so I guess it's a win-win situation :)

Yeah, the first thing I noticed upon installing Win 10 is that I didn't have permission to access my own desktop. Ugh

I fixed that somehow... it just reappeared after I poked about in my user folder a bit. Maybe it was because my desktop is on my D: partition instead of the more usual C:. That's a hangover from when I had a tiny SSD that had room for Windows on and nothing else.

Still, the new Beta launcher is very nice. Smile
