We are pushing out quite a lot of updates on Development that have the potential to break the launcher.

Thanks for your reply. I'll stick to (temporarily) falling back to release and trying development an hour (or a day or two) later then, should another update fail. Smile

dev build 986896 loaded fine, btw.

Having done a quick test with this launcher, I like it quite a bit.

The things I like:
- Multi launch and remembering log-in/password
- Easier access to the test servers

Things I liked better in the old launcher:
- Displayed news like what new dev blogs came out and new masstests etc. There is that text balloon thingy that seems to hold some kind of news, but all it tells me is about a CCP stream and does so through a bubble that blocks half the launcher. (Slightly exaggerated, but it does feel like it)

Things I'd like to see:
- Profile settings copying more data(Like window locations etc.) and actually having the same settings between all clients. Having to deselect camera shake for example while enabling light rays on each client was something I had hoped would be solved by having all clients use the same profile. (I did click on the cog wheel and select the profile, but only the first character has the settings I want after creating the new profile and setting everything up in-game)

OK< HELP! My settings were deleted, and your instructions dont even work. There is no "folder that ends with "..._tq_87.237.38.200" or anything like that, but I have my settings in a folder named c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility, and when I copy the settings folder in that to the c_programdata_ccp_eve_sharedcache_tq_tranquility folder and restart the launcher, NOTHING CHANGES.

Edit: Problem still exists, but I got around it by replacing the files in the Settings_Default folder with my setting files.

the thing you tried was for people who were using an old beta launcher and lost settings after last week update

you should have been offered to copy settings with a UI at some point before getting where you were, what you did is exactly what this little UI do : copy settings from the normal launcher to the beta one.

True, what you said happened, but while the settings were copied, they were not applied, EvE only looks at the Default settings folder.

It also did not work for me, or didn't seem to anyway. It sure didn't help I had like 9 folders I had to choose out of(3 TQ 4 Singularity and 2 duality)
And doing further testing between my alts on both the test server and TQ with entirely new settings profiles they don't really seem to do anything. Only thing that seems to be the same between the clients are the graphics settings(only partially...) and the volume settings... Not exactly a "wow this saved so much of my time!" thing.
Everything that would actually save a bunch of time, neocom settings / window positions / remembering what checkboxes I clicked cause I don't care about the warning / chat channels none of those get saved.

The biggest time saver the current beta launcher is capable of is no longer requiring me to input my password 3 times, it's nice, but not exactly what I hope is the only thing the Beta Launcher will be capable of.
Maybe doing more than what the profiles currently do is not even possible due to how the info is stored, but I do hope it becomes more useful in further releases.

On the flipside, I could just be doing something wrong LolLol

You are right, it doesn't do much at the moment as it only shares settings that are considered global (such as graphics settings), not the settings that are per account or per character. This is just a first step, though - there are plans to move much of the settings out of per character to the global setting, thus making them shared for everyone using the same settings profile. We needed this feature in the launcher before we start changing the client code.

Nothing user facing, just minor logging changes to allow us to better track usage.

Once we go out of beta we'll have a page with release notes for the launcher itself.

Lost your settings? This update for the BETA Launcher should have renamed the folder containing client settings. If this did not happen, your settings may have been left behind, and does not display in the migration tool.

The following information should help in recovering these settings.

For Windows users (7 and up):

* Hit the Windows key + R (or hit the start menu and type "run")
* Type "%localappdata%/ccp/eve"
* Open the folder that ends with "..._tq_87.237.38.200" (ex. c_ccp_eve_sharedcache_tq_87.237.38.200)
* Copy any "settings_" folders
* Return to the parent folder and enter the folder that replaced the IP address with _tranquility (ex. c_ccp_eve_sharedcache_tq_tranquility)
* Paste the "settings_" folders here
* Restart launcher

I tried to install the Beta Launcher today. Upon asking, which settings I want to import, I was at first really confused. Looks like I had a bunch of old settings folders (from Test servers, multiple installations, old installation paths...) littering the appdata folder.

I did a lot of trying out different settings, none imported properly. Whatever settings I tried to import with the Launchers menu, the game always started in stock configuration (fullscreen, showing the intro video, etc.).

To get my proper settings working, I had to manually copy and rename a settings folder in the appdata folders. The one I had to copy has not been the one ending with "87.237.38.200". In fact, there was no folder ending with that IP. (here has been one with another IP, but those settings were bad, too).

The settings folder I copied was in the folder called "e_eve_tranquility" (E: is the harddrive I installed EVE on).

Edit: It would be really nice if the launcher menu, that is used for importing old settings, would show you which settings has been used last time. That would make it a lot easier for everyone that has such a littered old settings menu like I did :D

Maybe you should change the "Version Type" setting in the settings window to "Launcher Version" or something similar. I thought it was related to the testservers. So I could get a dev build of the testserver or something. Although the confirmation message after changing it to "Development" says it's changing the Launcher Version, maybe that's enough.

I've been trying all day to get the launcher to download the latest launcher update. But the download is extremely slow, and eventually stalls.

Best I've gotten to is 37%. Restarted it after two hours of no movement at all. Now I'm back a 9% :(

Any way I can fix this? Or even better, is there a direct download link? Perhaps one that doesn't sit on a 64kbps line?

The update should be small, a few hundred kb, unless you have a fairly old version to start with. Not sure what's going on.

Anyway, the latest version is at https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-987223.exe - that's about 50MB and comes from the same location so I'd be surprised if that works any faster. Worth a try, though.

Thank you!

It is still very slow: About one hour for the 46.5MB. I'm on a 16mbit/s line, so I usually have about 100 times as much.

I downloaded it to my webserver (which took maybe 2 seconds) and downloaded it to my PC from there. That took less than a minute.

New version is not switching between servers could force it using the server list in the upper right but clicking on the list that does open is not working.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

lots of grieving on this issue, in the issues and workaround forum. this confirms that the server are fine to provide the data to some random servers
you are fine getting said data from this random server, but the same thing between ccp and you does not work

you see Telia because of, I assume, a traceroute.

Telia is just providing global internet routing, mainly northern Europe. Right now I see Level3, no Telia.
Try a traceroute if you can do that from your webserver, you'll probably see something different too.

now to make some of the griever understand the concept of "route" and stop throwing tantrum on how ccp is bad.... nah I'll keep ignoring the lot
