the old EFT version (using the old keys) connected just fine, but the newer versions can't find the new keys

There is a new version currently in the works which I hope won't have such issues.

To Irianeth
EFT officially don't support non-Windows platforms. Afaik people run EFT on Macs with some kind of emulator but I have zero knowlidge about that and can't give you any more info.

I don't know if this has been stated already, but for those of you having issues with importing your character into EFT (ie. wininet errors) you can export your character from EVEMON and then copy it into the character folder in EFT to make it work correctly. It is a little more time consuming, but for those of you (like me) who can't live without EFT it is a viable workaround.

Thanks Gripen for all the hard work. Hope you find a fix for this (what I feel is a major bug) soon.

found the issue. apparently when using an AVG firewall you have to manually add EFT as it will not detect the attempted connection and block it out of hand. hope this helps!

To check this archives hash (which is a really good idea!) use BD File Hash. Super simple hashing tool for windows.

Gripen,

Thank you for all the hard work on this great tool! I understand the personal time needed to maintain such a project and really appreciate it.

Is there a way to save your character after all of the skills and implants have been added? I don't see an obvious way to do this and I have to re-add my implants every time I open EFT. I may be dense and just overlooking it Lol Thank you!

It's the best tool around for quick fits and if you don't have anything else handy.

If you're trying to change "All Level V" character then it's by the design. You need to create new character for changes to be saved.
If you add implants to the Implants/Boosters window below the setup module list they are considered to be part of the setup and not belong to the character.

I keep getting an error whenever I try to open, close, or do anything at all in EFT:

' is not a floating point value.

The only way to close it is to end the process in the Task Manager, even Alt+F4 causes the error.

EDIT: just got a different error randomly

Access violation at address 0046C517 in module 'EFT.exe'. Read of address 00000057

how do you use the dps graph option.
meaning, how do you compile a dps graph for a ship.

You first open two ships (or more) and set them up how you want. Then you open the DPS graph, and in the white area to the top right, you right click, and add your attacker as attacker, and your other ship as target.

This will give a graph of the attackers dps on the target, with any mods on the target (for example if you have target painter, web, they will all be included in the appropriate ranges).

You can also fiddle with if you are calculating "eft dps", or dps against resists, etc.

The two arrows in the bottom right side are the targets speeds in relation to eachother. For example, you can set one to sit still (the attacker, the left circle, by making the arrow very short), and move the other ship (the right circle) straight top, which simulates a perpendicular motion at top speed, also know as "the worst case scenario".

That should be it.

This is because your firewall is blocking the connection. I use McAfee - i had to manually go into the firewall, select the eft.exe file, and allow it access.

for some reason, my older versions of eft were automatically detected by mcafee, but the newest version was not deteced (and thus disabled)

Playing with a setup for a Pilgrim -- the drone DPS seems to be unaffected by the level of Amarr Cruiser skill, contrary to the ship description.

Pilgrim requires Cruiser lvl 5 so it's not a variable as such (and thus EFT can't be bothered with mentioning or calculating for it).

EFT wont install? get Errors on start up?

I finlly figured out why EFT would'n't install on my PC, PeaZip can't unpack it properly, it missed the two folders inside.

I used the Windows 7 unzipper and all was fine.

Nice program Gripen, TY.

Ah, so it always just calculates and displays as if you have Cruiser 5? Makes sense... thanks.

In fact... it would be nice if it did that with every skill -- e.g. if I fit a particular module and don't have the necessary skill or level yet, it would base its displayed numbers with all required skills at at least their minimum required levels for the fit.
