Hi!
We are planning another mass test for the December release on Singularity on Tuesday, December 1st, at 17:00 UTC (EVE time)!

What exactly is being tested?
New Shield/Armor/Hull damage effects including DX9 and OS X support.
Stuck speedometer fix.

How to connect to Singularity for this test:

Read the Instructions at http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Singularity and read general instructions about mass tests at http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Mass_testing.
Join the in-game channel "MassTesting"

Test steps:
Meet in FD-MLJ at X-BV98 gate
Fleet X: Jump to X-BV98 and setup gate camp
Fleet W: Jump to X-BV98 + fight at the gate
All: Observe shiny new damage effects.
Check speedometers for any stuck instances.

What else should I know?

Use the command /moveme to be moved to the start system FD-MLJ
Bring many different ships, but preferably fleet ships.
2M Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test

For those that would like to provide feedback on the new damage effects directly, please do so in this thread

Test server. It's to let you try stuff out prior to skilling into it on TQ.

Well, that masstest didn't go as I had expected.

Worst masstest I've been in yet Lol

1 client with very little lag, doing everything was as difficult as any other masstest
1 client with moderate lag, was hard to get things done but possible
1 client with the worst lag I've seen yet in EVE, I was nearly incapable of doing anything.
And that stayed that way for a very long time... Each client kept their own level of lag instead of each client lagging as much as the other. Ships flown were exactly the same as well as the same position(within 5km anyway), zooming out did nothing to help the lag on the worst 2 clients, while I could happily zoom in and look around on the best client with nearly 0 lag.

And then when the lag finally started to get less and less as ships blew up, singularity crashed my PCs network for the 3rd time in 4 hours.
Network icon bottom right acts as if nothing is wrong, but Chrome tells me DNS lookup failed on new pages I'm trying to open and stops loading videos in tabs loaded before. Windows Troubleshooting tells me the DNS server isn't responsive/doesn't work.
All other PCs in the house work fine and restarting my PC fixes the problem. Both of which are different from my past experiences with DNS failures.(It used to happen daily until I got new DNS settings from my ISP and it hadn't happened again until I started up singularity)
When my DNS supposedly fails my 3 client keep running, but everything I do becomes an outstanding call. I don't seem to get the "disconnected from server" message which means I have to close the clients through Taskmanager so I can restart my PC.

The first 2 DNS failures happened when I warped into CA1 for the first time, and after flying around in CA1 for 30-60 minutes.
I also use the Beta Launcher but don't think that has anything to do with this.

I had some bad camera issues. They happen when the scene gets sufficiently complex that the fps drops to 2 or below. The camera starts to jump about wildly, not focusing on anything. You get this slide show of views, each pointing in a different direction.

Ive actually seen this type of behavior before. It happens when you have a feedback loop that slews the camera that is updated too slowly. That is, you have a routine that says

if the camera is not pointing in the desired direction, start slewing it toward the desired direction.
Wait one frame
Calculate the new camera direction and the new speed
repeat

With a low fps this is what happens:

The camera in initially pointing, say, 20 degrees to the left of desired. The routine gives it a velocity to the right
The next frame finds the camera pointed 30 degrees to the right of desired. The routine gives it a velocity to the left
The next frame finds the camera pointed 45 degrees to the left of desired. The routine gives it a velocity to the right

And so on.

Fix: when the fps drops, say below 5, just point the camera at the desired direction, and do not use the slewing routine at all.
Another fix: have the camera speed and position calculated with an exponential decay built in, so no mater what the time between frames, the camera will always get a new position that is homing in on the desired direction.

This also brings up another issue. When fps drops, UI responsiveness drops as well. The client seems to say "Wait until this frame is done, then I'll get around to the user". For example, I seem to need to hover the pointer over a button for two to three frames before the button highlights and I know I can click it, and have the click count. At 30 fps, this is not an issue. At 1 fps, it is quite an issue.
Could you do something that prioritizes the UI over updating the screen, so even at low fps, I can control my ship?

or they should make it so that they dont drop the FPS.
