Cat people, dog people

So i am bored as hell and i am opening a thread so people can talk about their pets... my guess for iguana guy is <5.

We are cat people. We have owed 6 cats over the last 21 years, of which 4 died already; the older one died at 18, another died from a cancer at 12, another died from nervous anorexia at 10 (looong story) and another died form an undetected heart condition at 2. We also lost a stray kitten who died the day after rescuing it from the streets.

Our current survivors are mother and daughter; the mother is 10 years old and she'scalled "Dina";she's halfbred of pure siamese and halfbred siamese+european, so she's almost as crazy as the average siamese, got asian body build, white coat with european stripes in pale grey and siamese decoloration, and blue eyes. The daughter is 9 years old and we call her "Lady"; her father was an european cat and she's got european body build but a whiteish coat with darker stripes, "sock" paws and amazing dark blue eyes. From a behavior POV, she's quite similar to her father (my sibling's cat, who teached us a valuable lesson on the fertllity of 6 months-old male cats). What?

For more laughs , do a small forensic research on accounted cases of this happening , and see where the kitties begin to chew you on first ...

apartment doesn't allow pets...

though if I did have one I'd definitely have a dog. Cats make houses smell weird, and litter boxes are Sad

I grew up with a little land around my house and our pets could roam. After that, I can't bring myself to own a cat that stays indoors all the time or to let a cat outside while surrounded by busy streets.

My neighbors seem to have a mice problem though.

My apartment has two holes in it, one around some pipes in a utility closet floor and the other behind my fridge where some lines come in. While sitting at my desk I often see mice travel through my apartment from one hole to the other.

They so far never bother me at all. They don't get into my food, even when I leave a bag of trash by the door to take down and forget it, they don't bother it while I'm gone. Occasionally one will linger in the open spot between the closet and kitchen and look around. I say something like "What are you doing, mouse? -.-" and they go "eep!" and run along to the fridge.

That and occasionally hitting a squirrel in my car is enough animal interaction for me.

I remember this! They start with the lips and tongue... the soft parts.

My kitty won't be doing that as he has diabetes and will be joining me within 12 hours without his shot Twisted

Seems reasonable. Cat is hungry, and your flesh is just rotting away anyways. Might as well go towards feeding the cat.

I have two Kittens, 5 months old.

One is ginger, one is white with tabby spots.

Dogs suck; misguided sense of loyalty and you have to walk them regularly, cats just do their own thing and occasionally come over for a cuddle.

I have a cat I call cat. It's daft and a coward but it looks after itself so that makes it better than a dog. It is forever getting chased by the magpies and crows.

Given that it would be at least a month before anyone else noticed I was dead, I can excuse my cat for being pragmatic.

Dogs. They don't get right between you and your monitor swishing around demanding attention. They don't stand on your keyboard when you're in chat. They rarely pass really acrid-smelling gas. Have three cats and no dogs, and kind of tired of the cats ATM. Blink
On the other hand, dogs: smell, peep and poop in the house, chew things up, make loud barking noises, jump up on people with muddy paws, beg during dinner time, escape and run around the neighborhood like idiots, etc. etc.
Currently my favorite pets live in tanks-- fish, reptiles, amphibians. Little smell, no noise, no demanding attention, no drama. Just peaceful co-habitation. Smile

I inherited a pit bull once, kept it for 12 years, had to get cats for it when the cats I inherited with it died off. I guess I do both, but dogs are too much for someone who lives in an apartment in the city. I would have felt better about the dog if we had a house with a yard.
