In the case of the second one of these, is this an actual issue right now? Can you send me the bug report number in-game, if so?

I was replying to the support vs bugs thing.
Most of my hardware bugs aren't a problem now. I shall be submitting some new ones when I have exhausted other options.

Like with this (Ubuntu machine)
1) I will be running EVE and my client will hang. Checking system monitor I will see one thread of the processor maxed out but the other eleven are perfectly comfortable.
2) EVE also thinsk my R9 390 is a 5600.

Still going to try find work around and solutions to these things. Started by installing Wine1.7 to hopefully fix 1).

Thank you for the replies. You make for a good community representative.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Dunno what all the fuss is about. I've been playing EVE for most of a decade. One thing I've noticed that has really got my attention is how much the graphics have improved in a single year. I'm really fussy about anti-aliasing and shimmer.
I look at details carefully, and I have very good graphics hardware. There is virtually NO shimmer any longer, even on the busy Minmitar structures. I see no jaggies. There are few games out there that render quite as good as this one. Bugs? I duuno, nothing manifests it'self that i've noticed. I do pro bono work for another game studio and I spend a lot of time in other forums.
I'll just throw this out as my own opinion based on experience: I think a lot of complaints come from folks who are trying to run an advanced game like this one with hardware that is a might too old to take advantage of what the code is capable of. Another big issue can be client broadband speeds that are just abysmal. I do caretaker work for a studio server as well, and I can tell you that a lot of in game hiccoughs are due to poor broadband performance. Now I know a lot of folks will get mad at me for suggesting these things, and that's ok. But I'm not kidding when I suggest that a lot folks are trying to run a 21st century sim with 20th century tools.

Please note that we don't provide any support at all for running Eve on Linux. You're welcome to try, but you're on your own.

Allright, I'll report you a nuissance. Although technically speaking not a "bug" so can't reproduce.

I strongly suspect it's BIAB related because it started when that patch hit. It happens quite frequently so I'm surprised nobody mentioned it thus far. Several friends of mine have the same issue, and it's a recent one.

So... I enter a few command (such as right click > warp to, activate DCU, cycle guns or whatnot) and notice the world and my internet connection are still there (people are still chatting, I see ships flying and damage is taken) --- except my commands do not execute immediately. They DO execute after like 30-40 seconds but that's one hell of a long time, no?

How do I know it's 30-40 sec? Because this also happens quite often when I'm traveling gate to gate: the gatecloak timer goes down, ship doesn't move. Then, halfway through, it execute all commands I gave until then all at once.

Second, probably related issue, is the overview: nowadays, I can enter a new system and not see any kind of overview for, say, 20 seconds. No belts, no gates, no ships -- no data, it would seem.

Not accepting commands and not showing overview can occur independantly from each other: sometimes I get no overview but I can move. Sometimes I can't move but I get an overview straight away.

I have many friends complaining about similar issues, so I have a hunch this is the kind of phenomenon giving BIAB a bad reputation: we were supposed to get silky smooth session changes because "everything was precalculated" -- yet in reality it's never been as slow / laggy / lethally unreliable as it is now. I cannot say for certain it's the Brain in a Box or maybe hardware issues or something else -- but I think this is what Admiral Kerk was talking about.

We can't really file a bug report for "half a minute delays for no obvious reason", can we? We can't reproduce, we can't screenshot it; but it's there alright. Try it, you'll see for yourself.

I did have this doozy yesterday:

http://puu.sh/lDhjj/917bff70ac.png

Jumped gate. All normal, no problem. Within 5 seconds of the jump animation starting I had the session change, invul timer popped up at top left.

All good.

I'm pointed. Wait what?

While still in the warp animation (this all total about 8 seconds from when I started my jump) and with the invul timer active.

Killed, podded and I loaded grid back in a new medical clone without ever loading grid in system. All within about 15 seconds of starting to jump.

Brokk Witgenstein: Thank you for your detailed report! This does not really sound like a problem caused by BIAB, but I want to investigate it a bit further to see if it might be either caused by BIAB or by anything else on our end. It would be interesting to file a bug report directly after such a problem happened (but get safe first) - maybe I can see anything in client logs. It might also be interesting to check the outstanding calls window, which can be found as part of engine tools (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+M), while such a delay is happening - maybe the window shows if a specific server call is very late.
If you send such a bug report, please include my name in the title, so it will end up on my screen.

Violet Crumble: Wow, that's a really weird incident- I'll try to take a look at server logs tomorrow. Please send both a bug report (including screen shot and whatever else you might know) and a support ticket (to ask for reimbursement).

that used to happen to me all the time a long time ago and usually with a specific system (inari). Jump in, warp try to activate hardeners, and then all commands would hit at once some seconds later. Although typically after that happened there weren't any more issues while I was in that system but on the initial jump it could be very slow. I assume that has more to do with node balancing than anything else, could also be packet loss? The bug report might be able to help track a node balancing problem?

I also seem to have packet loss issues every now and then. I see my ship fire several volleys but the NPC's HP stops moving, and typically another client will disconnect. then it seems to "catch up" and several volleys hit all at once, or sometimes just seem to disappear.

some kinda similar kinda different, probably aren't because of BitB but might feel like they are problems.

Are the Fleet Bonuses bugs related to Brain in the Box?

Are the fitting issues related to boarding ships from sma's beeing looked at? Is this related to the Biab? I'm sure someone has reported this issue.
