drone designs: room for improvement

dont get me wrong, I like the drones and the way they look. but from the first moment i saw them, they cried ilogical. pretty much every single drone design has forward mounting turrets, yet the only way they know how to approach a target is to circle it. they do a little bobbing and weaving at first but once they have been shooting a target for a while they tend to settle down.

I would love some work put into this, by either redesigning all drones with rotating turrets, or what i would like to see, drone attack paths. going in as a squad, engaging with blanket fire, swerve off course then turn back for the next run.
- you could have it still fire at the same rate
-since heavies are so much slower, maybe just add on the rotatable turrets so they can just sit there and blast away.
-the only down side i could think of is if this would slow down the bandwidth, but since the drones already fly in their own random paths i dont see it would make much a difference.

Ive heard a lot of people asking for more intelegent drone commands. and this would be icing on the cake.

although before you comment, I'm pretty much aware that this would not affect game play, and ccp might never get around to it, but would love them for it if they did.

I agree, the drones currently fire shots that begin at the end of the barrel and will immediately make 90 degree + turns this probably should be corrected. no rush(art department?), everything looks pretty!

Would'nt mind that kind of thign as well.

Of course if they have to change anything on their positionning, more ressources may be needed on the servers and in high number fleet combat, it may cause more lag.

I mean, i do like using drones, but i hate lag. What?

ive thought this over a little more and feel it would be even more awsome now. with the implementation of having more specific commands for drones.
-if you could set the attack path methods of your drones. what i mean is, be able to have them "bob and weave" tactics, or close formation circle, or just "follow and fire". this way you could have the damage and defense of your drones be affected by your attack methods.
-if you have the just "follow target and attack" then your drones would settle in behind the target, without flying around it and focus fire it. this would increase their damage slightly and reduce their defence, since they would have very little to no tranversal.
-if you have your drones "circle" target, then they would do quick attack runs, which would be about the same as they are now (damaga and defence wise)
-if you set them to "bob and weave", then they would do fast and tight manuvers which would make them harder to hit. this would also reduce their damage.

I realize that combat in eve can either be "to much" and sometimes "to little", but the more tactic variations we have, the more interesting combat becomes.
I take back what i said about this probably never happening, because i would love to be able to have these three commands for drones.
this might cause a bit on unbalance, but i dont think it would that much because, if everyone made their drones "follow and attack", then they would be alot easer to target and destroy. what does everyone think?

Just changing the position of the drone's guns wouldn't cause any lag right? It would just change its image. CCP could easily fix this i presume.

Agreed.
