I've got a suggestion to help increase interest in this game for newer players and also help CCP earn a bit of extra revenue in the process. Why not offer a monthly chance to bump our SP's by 1,000,000 for a set price?

Say you allowed us to purchase 1 million SP's each month for $29.99 (or 2 PLEX). It can only be used once per month (per account) and has a countdown until the next time you can use it.

As a new(er) player, it's very frustrating to have to wait days for one skill to train while I'm eager to get out into Low/Null sec or into a new ship. I understand that this is part of the intended mechanics, but would it really hurt the game that much to allow us the option to purchase Skill Points once per month for a character?

1m SP is hardly going to be a game changing amount, but it would allow us to train some highly needed skills for a cost. We get the option to allocate the SP's how we want, CCP gets extra revenue. Everyone wins. Also, offering the ability to use either a payment or PLEX keeps it fair for those that prefer to use in-game currency to use it.

I've thought long and hard about this and it makes sense. I understand that training time is part of the business model and it keeps us subscribed while we train. Fine. But at a certain point, our skills take a very long time to train and it can be frustrating for a newer player. Offering us this option would not hurt the game as far as I can tell, but it would allow newer (and older) players the opportunity to train up while also adding extra revenue to the company. Also, keeping the option to use PLEX means that it is not a "pay to win" mechanic. Everyone has the chance to use it.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it a good idea? Would it hurt the game mechanics? Open to discussion here.

Your idea is insane. But new players should start with more sp, like 2 or 3m. Problem is, they wont know what to do with it.

Keep it up, +1

I love how people crap on this, yet can't get enough of the "SP packs" as if they're in any way different.

"People" as in Eve players in general.

And why was this thing moved and not immediately locked back 3 weeks ago when we already have this sticky about buying SP?

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

What do you call the minimum SP requirements that some of the nul sec corps / alliances have then?
Granted they can be worked around by going to other corps or doing other things but to state that there is no SP barrier to being in nul is kind of crazy when there clearly are some.

Because this is a hot button issue and so it will always attract people like us who want to comment but not have it lost in a deep end of those other topics about the same thing.

Otherwise we can go with they don't bother to look.
Or the ever popular that search feature sucks.
And the companion I did not bother to use the search engine.
Or the I am special because it was my idea.

These forum have to many topics that are stickied. When the vast majority of the first page is stickies it might be time to rethink how these forum are laid out.

Man, this should not have to come up so often. Ccp please provide link this to new players, the SP difference crap whine is grating.

It is very helpful for noobs. Someone reading it out loud in a YouTube thingy might save time too, cos lots of people can't be bothered with reading stuff that, you know, is there for their benefit.

Get some Eve. Make it yours.

Very much agreed, but providing new players with things that really help them, advance them and explain the game to them so that they can start armed with knowledge rather than bewilderment is not in the players' or CCP's interest. Instead, CCP sells new players Starter Packs to gain additional money from them besides the sub and players and CCP alike show elevated interest in conditioning players (new and old) into buying plex to play the game (not gametime plex; plex to be sold on the market to buy things) instead of earning what they play with by playing the game.
