2 or 3 man team for burner missions

Hey I'm interested in getting into burner missions, but I don't have a lot of up-front capital or skills to fly various races assault frigates or pirate frigates.

I can fly the Wolf, Jaguar, Vengeance, and Dramiel with good skills.

For simplicity's sake, I want to just grab one ship (probably the vengeance) and use it exclusively to run Burner missions, along with the aid of one team-mate or a small handful of others.

So what would be good ships to use for a 2 or 3 or maybe 5 man team to farm burner missions? I get the impression that once you get up to 5 guys, it doesn't really matter, because that's enough DPS to just smash through whatever is in the mission; however considering that I've never run a burner mission before, I don't want to be over confident and go into this and somehow wind up with 5 guys whelping their blingy frigates.

From a isk/h perspective you're starting to lose out big time with 3 or more people. 2 I can still see making a decent amount, probably on par with normal Lv4s.

But specifically in terms of burners the first rule is not to be afraid of losing a few ships, you'll quickly get used to the mission and stop losing ships. Besides 2 burner missions is enough to replace most of the ships you'll be using. My advice would be to take a nice tanky T2 frig, load it with Tank, webs and DPS (no faction) and have a friend sit in a T1 logi frigate. The logi frig has boosted range on the logi gear so he can stay out o range of the burner usually. Still good chance he'll die but the ship + fit should cost less than 5mill and you can load that ship up with tank too.

You should already be able to do almost all of the Burner agents solo but I guess if you just want to see what's so scary about burners you can o the above first and then graduate to solo.

Once you get to 5 people you're better off looking at things like wormholes or incursions.

You will need worm + jamming Griffin to do team burners. You don't need that much DPS to break 1 logi tank with a jamming frig. For worm you will need t2 small drones and drones interfacing to lvl4. Even if you don't have t2 smalls you still will be able to do them.

For burners I use chip fitted worm + wolf (against sansha and blood), Harpy (against serpentis and angel), daredevil (against guristas). All fits arent expensive. Also I used 2 worms against Sansha, Blood (need good skills), serpetis, angel.

For team burners if you have a dedicated jam boat, you just need something that can hit at 25-30km for dps and go 1200m/s. and that range/speed is mostly to stay out of the burner jag wrecking shot range. for the other team burners you can do it with less speed and less range. I'd suggest staying ~18km or more from them. For the ECM boat you can fit a very effective griffin for ~5mil, or a slightly better kitsune for ~25mil. Kitsune can add a bit more dps and has higher jam strength. In highsec I'd probably take the kitsune. for low/null the griffin would make for a decent throw away scout, and if you get lucky it might even be able to jam its way free.

I finished one version with 89 dps the other day (I think it was the gallente one). once the logi get jammed out it is mostly just wait it out and let your dps work the burner down. Again the burner jag is a bit of an exception as it is the fastest it can get to the "turn around" point while you are still shooting it, and once it turns around the logi have a chance to catch up. A little manual piloting and it seems to stay interested in following you. Might want to make a few s curves while burning out, but that requires more speed as you lose speed while turning

with the ships you listed I think I'd bring a few wolves as I'd want to try a few different fittings. like arty kite wolf for the team burners, and brawl wolf for EM based targets. and then a vengance or two. It should work for the angel burner, and I'm not really sure what else you could do with it, but I'm pretty sure you could get it to work for some others especially with a wing man.

also if you have access to warfare links that might help a lot, will give faction/deadspace performance to some meta/t2 mods, or let cheap faction mods perform better than the expensive version.

when they first announced burners I thought I'd be able to run most of them in one ship with perfect skills, testing showed that was a terrible assumption. Bringing 2 ships is something that might improve on that idea, but all I can say is good luck on that :p

Thanks for replying. Well I know that we will lose isk efficiency by running it as a group. However, this isn't entirely about isk efficiency at first. It's about learning how to do this with others.

Of course I can do this by myself and risk losing some ships in the process. But that's not the only way to go about doing this. I can do this with others for awhile and learn the ropes, while I make some ISK, buy more ships, and skill into those ships. And then in the future I can start doing it solo or even take newbies under my wings and teach them the ropes by flying a logi ship and repping them. Who knows?
