Fleet Drone Assist...Need Help

I am running missions with an alt and attempting to use his drones to assist me. Only guard works. I warp 2 toons in, release drones, right click alts drones in space folder and click assist Arcano. I then, on Arcano, target and engage npc. Alts drones will stay idle. But if I put them on guard Arcano then they will attack what is shooting at me. Any reason why the assist is not working?

if nohting havent changed then in assist mode the assisted drones follow your guns or ewar mods , hitting the F to attack wont affect the assisted drones.

you need to activate a gun, only after this assigned drones will start attacking

target painters are a popular option for assisting. although imo if you have 2 chars in the same mission one ship should probably have guns/launchers fit.
