-10 sec status is nice and all, but it isn't evidence of piracy. One can get -10 just from "goodfights" in lowsec without ever doing anything piratey at all.

Being a "full time pirate" it's not just question of will.

Depends of what you fly, for example a SB 30-150 millions ISK worth it's not too hard to repay with few kills. But if you start piracy with ships which costs 250+ millions ISK, and you cannot get enough "loot" from your kills you need to get it from somewhere else.

I can fund my SB with explorers kills in WHs. But when I think I want to pilot something bigger I am aware that if I do not get better rewarding targets I'd just get financially broken in few losses.

It's not easy to work out an economical efficient solution for me.

Are there any pirate groups or solo pirates that actually do all their activities in lowsec, including their possible alt characters? I have read a lot of these forums and noticed that pirates tend to have alts in highsec space doing mining, missioning or some industrial activities including trading.

But, isn't that embarrassing to act like a real badass one arm pirate and then log in your carebear alt after you have lost your shiny ship?

Piracy in it's earliest forms of Eve are sadly bygone days. Most are concerned with the killmail than the isk of a ransom mainly because there are few groups who honor ransoms or people willing to pay them. Unless you deal in regional conflicts or know of certain local low sec groups who honor such agreements most just wait to die rather than pay.

SC is one of the only groups I still know of who make it Alliance policy to honor ransoms, 1v1's etc. As far as "acting like a badass" then logging onto an alt to make isk it's all about a means to an end. If you pve to fund pvp (which I'm almost certain most of us do) there's nothing wrong with it. People may say things, joke, etc but when you can shrug off relative expensive losses to replace ships, become self sufficient for pvp, fits, fuel, logistics etc it makes things more stable.

As far as low sec piracy groups well those are even harder to come across. If you are looking for the more blob heavier asset groups I'd say SC, Snuff, TISHU,DT etc for low sec content. If you are looking for true low sec Piracy, ransoms, gate camps that's going to be a tough nut to crack.

Tuskers for one, The Bastards (dunno if they are still around) SLTKRS etc I think a handful of local groups around Amamake or Rancer? Not even sure anymore. Your best bet would to just search on the forums or keep an eye out.

I moved back to low sec recently with a scout/probing alt. I take what I want through force. Bombing a pipe for me has been pretty profitable. It's made me wonder why I went back to empire at all.

If piracy is defined by the act of ransoming, so piracy is dead since years, almost nobody is willing to pay ransom anymore.
After monthes, you don't even bother ransoming people anymore when gatecamping in low-sec, you just shoot cause you know they probably won't pay anyway, so loot is primary.
