Connecting to Tranquility

Hello.

EVE Online won't connect to the server on my labtop. I'm connected to my home network (wireless/wifi whatever) and can use the internet just fine, but when I try to load up EVE it stays at "Establishing Connection to the Server" for a few seconds then tells me it cannot connect due to not having an internet connection (which isn't true since I'm browsing the internet), or it's not connecting to the IP and Port 26000.

I've tried multiple things in an attempt to connect and play, from changing the port from 26000 to 3724, to allowing the program through windows firewall, to even turning off my firewall completely but nothing is working. I've googled and tried a lot of methods so I can connect to the server and play but nothing is working.

Can someone please help?

ok

you are using wifi

all the discussion on the problems will now stops, I will however explain to you why :

comparing "browsing the internet" and "playing eve" is like comparing, damn, I need an analogy where buffering and connection stability make sense for normal non geek people, something like a broken pipe, a gas leak, or something
browsing do not need 'real time and permanent connection' like any online game needs. any cut in the flow will cause a failure to communicate, like a telephone, yes I have my analogy :

browsing is like texting, playing eve is like talking to someone on the phone
(yes even watching YouTube is like texting but really fast)

go buy a ethernet cable (or look inside you modem box that was provided to you, I don't know) and try with that between your laptop and your modem
That is the ONLY solution you need to test, guaranteed success

if you can't stay connected even with a cable then maybe it is a problem between your modem and your ISP, it's known to happen on DSL lines some of them have noises and issue and contacting your ISP will make them move their technicians to test the line (depends on your ISP I guess)

real stats (from advanced studies)
95% chance the problem is on your wifi
4% the problem is on your isp
1% chance there is a problem on the internet (like yesterday)

Chance CCP can fix your problem until you use a good solid copper cable? none.

Explanation finished
good luck

Thanks for the quick reply.

On my desktop I was able to play EVE wireless no problem. I bought an ethernet cable to have a faster/stable connection.

On my labtop I'd like to play when I'm away from home or at school. Having a direct connection via ethernet cable isn't something I can do in those situations. I'm just wondering if there's some obvious step I'm missing to connect EVE on the labtop to the server itself.

as long as the laptop is not overheating, the drivers are up to dates, and the hardware requirements are met, there is nothing wrong

beware wireless on battery and powersaving, 3D will suck your battery and wifi will lose strength

"I'm away from home or at school" = bad wifi, worse even than home personal wifi you can tweak
