The purpose is simply what made the Empire thrive since its inception. Bread and circus.

Not totally unsimilar to what fuels the Federation, albeit in a different fashion.

I guess I can't really argue that. At the same time its easy to throw peanuts from the peanut gallery when they're being given out for free.

We saw all the declarations for the various heirs before the succession trials began. I hereby declare against Khanid II.

Let's not forget that just 300 years ago he had his chance at the throne, lost, and instead of Shathol'Syn decided to rob the Empire of a third of it's fleet and almost a tenth of it's lands. Instead of loyalty to the Empire, he chose loyalty to himself.

I attempted to personally stop his bid to the throne and but for a few extra seconds I may have still had that opportunity. While my full support is still behind Lady Catiz Tash-Murkon and by extension her champion Kelon Darklight, I now also extend my resources to the other champions as well.

The Court Chamberlain made a grievous mistake in continuing Jamyl's forgiving attitude towards this traitor by allowing him to be a contender for the Throne. He gave up that right when he betrayed the Empire. He cannot be allowed to ascend the throne.

God be praised.
Khanid be damned.
Amarr Victor.

Please excuse me, if I will disrupt your declaration, Sir.

But you see, if Khanid will win the trials, Khanid II won't become the Emperor. The Emperor would be Duke Farokh Khanid, his cousin. And I am afraid he doesn't deserve your wrath and denouncing.

It was my understanding that Garkeh Khanid II was participating in the trials and that Duke Farokh was selected to succeed him if he were to fail, not that he was selected as the incumbent heir.

You are utterly, completely, totally wrong.
