In my experience ItemID's are surprisingly persistent at least after the change over to 64bits
I would guess the array\module would have to be unanchored, stacked with other modules of the same type and then unstacked again for it to change ItemID.

That's how I understand the process. As long as the item remains a "singleton" (not repackaged), it will maintain the same ID number, even if unanchored, moved, shipped, stamped, abandoned in a dark corner of the hangar, rediscovered and reanchored. But if you repackage it and stack it with other items of the same type, there's no way that it can remember its ID.

(Which is the same reason why we can't have "maker's marks" on ship hulls or other items.)

Which all makes sense. So then it'd have to be at least a daily hit on the API just to ensure that items aren't moved from one POS to another.

I don't know how it works for larger corps who deal with several POS's as far as moving components around and whether or not if the movement thing happens frequently or not. I GUESS, for my application, when I flag items as being near a moon instead of in a solar system, the user can manually request to update the location details. It'd take less of a hit on the API. Then again, once in a 24 hour period wouldn't be all that bad either. I'm just not entirely sure about that URL length yet. I'll put on my dev'n boots later. Off to bed I go. :]

Thanks for the input guys.

Can only speak for myself but we dont move pos mods around much, if any we put new ones up. And with PrismX's proposal we can tag one mod in our website and have it update, besides I care mostly only about our industri hangars\labs etc.

probably not going to bother querying the warp disruptor/ecm/neut batteries.

edit: Although once we realy start to see the convenience of the new anchoring timers this might change, could be we still hang on to the old notion that you dont move mods around unless you have 12 hours to spend on nothing better.
