After renaming c:\xampp to c:\xampp.disabled the launcher starts.

I'm not sure what on my system is deciding it needs to use the OpenSSL libraires from xampp to run your launcher but it seems to be the culprit.

If I figure out anything else that might be helpful I'll add that later.

The launcher does use OpenSSL so there is some logic to this. Is xampp in your path? Not sure why that would get preference over the ones next to the executable, but this is at least a lead for me to investigate.

C:\xampp\php is in my "System Variables" PATH. Its near the end before some other development tools.

Prior to this beta launcher I used the auto one-click login posted by another player in the EVE tech subforum. Anyone else?

Hi guys, Hi CCP 7o

I have some issues since i try the new bêta launcher What?

My SHARED directory is always deleted when i launch it.

Originally, it was about +20Gb. Now it is sized less than 2GB , i, have to copy a backup of the original folder.

The path in the launcher settings is fine, and when i launch the game after copying the shared backup, it works fine.

Many times in game, even with closing the launcher application, a command windows pop " *my shared folder path* /updater.exe". I always close it, buty i think it's this .exe who deleting my shared directory.

edit : my pc runs Seven 64 bits, on an AMD X6 cpu.

Make sure the launcher is not installed in the shared cache directory. When the launcher updates, it deletes any extra files in its folder. I will add a safety check to guard against this in the near future.

renaming c:\xampp to xampp.disabled worked for me. I didn't know the launcher was supposed to initialize so fast. Before this, when it worked without whitescreening, it would hang for a few seconds on each step beginning at the text fields for account name and password. Now it just 'boing' opens to the list of my accounts and "Play Selected."

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=403976

That is the EVE auto launcher that I mentioned. I'm pretty sure it's the only reason I have that c:\xampp folder at all.

At this point I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm mentioning it just in case it helps. I seem to recall setting something in powershell to an elevated priority during the installation process for the [player made] eve auto launcher. A couple of posts back, Snorlax, you questioned why there would be a priority conflict between something previously installed and items in the beta launcher's code. That sounds like something I did intentionally, not knowing it would affect another program like this later on.

I have an issue with the automatic upate script on linux:

From updatelog.txt:
Copying C:/EVE/SharedCache/ResFiles\92/9246d9682663155d_0299072a704cf065d0157fa16a5b37c6 to C:/EVE/Launcher\evelauncher.exe
Copy failed for evelauncher.exe(error code 32)

the \ in ../ResFiles\92/.. should be a /

Copying the file manually is a solution. Maybe someone can update the update script?

Technically they should all be backslashes as these are Windows paths. Wine should handle this correctly, are you sure this is really the issue?

The updater is started by the launcher, but can't update the launcher until it exits. If the launcher for some reason doesn't exit, or takes a long time to do so it might interfere with the update. The updater should retry a few times, with a delay of 3 seconds or so to allow for this.

Anyway, I'll look at the paths being consistent, but I don't really have the time to verify this myself on Linux.

It looks like this is the problem.
If I don't copy the file manually the launcher is in an infinite update loop. If I do copy the file manually the launcher is updated and works as expected.

Slightly odd one. I get this after an update yesterday:

The web page at https://launcher.eveonline.com/1.5/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error code: ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED

Rolling back used to fix it (because the update kept persistently trying to apply itself with a short timer i couldn't always avoid it) but now no such joy

CCP why do you hate us industry guys.

Have any of you guys try running industry with 4 or 5 accounts, and do with this relaunching game instead of reloging

So its way faster just run game from .exe and do reloging all those alts when running industry jobs

Evening all,
I wonder if anyone else has had trouble with the automatic updater of the new launcher.

My Symantec Norton Internet Security gives an alert during the automatic update.
Norton says (translated by me) :
Suspected behaviour detected: updater.exe
SONAR.Heuristic.120

After this message the launcher-executable did no longer exist.

As a FYI I will include the detailed Norton-log (sorry , a lot is in dutch)

Kind regards Jackyla

PS. I also tried doing a new install of the Beta-launcher; I got the same message at that time.

I waited to be able to export settings, and I'm really glad I made the switch. Love being able to practice on Sisi, and besides the beta star map just killing my fps (when zoomed out, doesn't happen on TQ), I haven't had any problems so far. Keep up the good work!

having using the .exe to launch 6 accounts and the new launcher i can freely say the launcher is faster. yes it is a BETA so issues here and there is accepted.

We had several requests having the launcher ensure that hitting play on accounts already running would not start a new client, causing the running client to log out on that account. You can stop the client from the launcher (just make sure you've checked the 'Do not ask me again' box in the close window warning message).

I'll see if it makes sense to have an option to control whether hitting Play on an already running account starts a new client or not. I'm a bit worried that may cause more confusion for most players, but we'll consider this use case.

That's a big deal if you can use the beta launcher to log out to the character selection screen. Technically it's a workaround, but if it's fast enough, it's effectively the thing players have asked for, for years.

Something like a button that will always close the running client and reopen to character selection screen like so

I will admit that my dutch is non-existent, so I'm not going to comment to much on the log. However, we've already contacted Norton about this issue. I would also look to white-list the folders where your launcher is installed as well as the shared cache folder.

Is the new launcher supposed to replicate settings across accounts. If so then mine is not functioning correctly I cannot get the same settings i.e. Market Quickbar to replicate across any accounts. They all use settings 3 but to no avail?

Hey!

I cannot reproduce this on our Crossfire setup. I have tried both Windows 7 and Windows 10, with AMD driver package 15.201.1151-150821a-188665E. I'd be curious to know if you still have this issue?
