New Probe scanner

The new scanner is a pain to use. All the interface controls have been changed which I don't like. The probes pull wonky in the solar system map. Now when I push the alt key my mouse wheel changes the size of the scanning area instead of it allowing me to zoom in and out like it was. Switch the alt and control keys back to the way they where. Every thing in the solar system map is hard to see. The probe boxes are dark and the red dot for sigs is dark and too small. A better choice of lighting than the sun of the system would have been good.

Thank the Empress we can turn it of - not nice surprising me with new things I haven't seen before.

The "SCAN" button is on the right side, I am not interested in the solar system map when I want to check the d-scan and I don't want any window to mess with my modules - I launch my probes and nobody else.

And what are the rows with the signatures? Are the anomalies below or above the rows?

By Zeus, don't change things that don't need changing.

Please delete the changes and lets go back to old and working one. You have kept trying to make it better and it keeps going worse and worse. Stop it please before its too late to fix.

Please bring back the checkbox to filter anomalies on the top of the probe window.
Please bring back the checkbox to turn off filtering on the top of the Dscan window.

End of "Constructive feedback"

The new one does offer some improvements. Let's not be hasty about this.

I would love for pinpoint formations to snap to selected returns.

Okey, I admit. That was not constructive feedback that I gave, sorry.

That being said I think the underlying problem for me in the new map is that it's a lot of glitter in form of colours and that "improved" 3D feeling but it just doesn't feel right. It looks nice, and I can understand that you want to "pretty up" the UI to more modern look. I'm not against this, but it shouldn't come at the cost of the functionality/usability. For me its still feels very clunky.

It maybe that I'm resisting change here because I've learned the other UI pretty well and got so used to it that the new one just feels slow/inconvenient. Perhaps it's a better experience for new players that have not touched the old one?

I’ll go tweak it and see if I can make it feel right for me. Sorry forum rage earlier.

I like he new probe map mostly, just a few things that need fixing.

First, there seems to be a bug that prevents the movement sliders for your probes from rendering (you can force the render by hitting either shift/ctrl/alt, so at least there's a work around).

I'd like to have a way to hide the dscan sphere in the probe map, or at least change the sphere's color. The red wire frame makes it difficult for me to see signature dots, it is very distracting.

Other than that, I really like it.

Nick kirk is my near maxxed skill scanning toon and the new probe interface is just the same garbage as the old one, thank god it can be turned off
It is clear the ppl that re-designed it have no clue how to scan.

1) you cant mouse click and move the probes center mass with out fighting with planet overlays that interfere with moving the probes. after 3 minutes I removed the interface.

you guys need some sort of primary button that turns off location markers info for pure scanning purposes. I don't give a **** about the planets being clickable I want to know what's around them and only want to see their names

its been months....

Yesterday, probe scanning was okay. I gave it a shot, and found it frustrating ... but stuck with it for a whole session. Yeah, by the end of the session, it was still only okay.

Today, looks like improvements were made. I'm happy with it! Good job. Some of the "bugs" were "fixed" ... it is more usable now. I don't care that there might be an extra click or two for settings changes. Typically, if I go to do something, I set it once and forget it, until the next session. If I'm switching settings constantly, I'm doing something wrong (Settings, configuration, overview, or whatever). What is nice is that the layout is more logical and functional, not to mention cleaner IMO; I can configure the interface just how I want to now. If I have to switch between tasks, a few simple clicks gives me what I need (After initial configuration).

Complaints:
-
*****
If I have the map aligned to the ship camera, panning around the probing map doesn't work well as the camera always snaps back to center. Automatically decoupling the camera from the ship would be nice (For panning while a map is open) , while keeping the orientation would be handy.
*****

-Pressing a key (CTRL, ALT, SHIFT, whatever) to bring up the probe movement arrows is a pain.

-If the probe group is centered on a celestial, grabbing/moving the probe group is a pain without finding a clear arrow. Same complaint as Nick Kirk, I think.

Overall it is nice. Probe scanning and the new map are getting better (Beta!!!), but still feels a bit clunky compared to the old map. Not sure how to quantify it. This latest attempt is the best yet. I'll give it a try for a few more sessions to see if I can adjust. So far, I like it.

every time I try and grab center mass it does nothing
we need a option to turn off selecting probes.

you have to understand the guys with skills use the precluster formation ALL THE TIME. and we can't move the probes as ones with out having to pre move them side to side
and the box is never selectable till after you move the probes with the arrows

fix this please

do some thing

im turning this off again

It was really annoying to see that the box and arrows were gone, and that i read here how to get it back.
Having to make that extra step pushing crtl or whatever key to be able to move the probes isn't really improving things, it's making them worse.

Good that you can uncheck the box "show scan range" because that red big sphere make sigs really hard to spot on the map.

Just use the new d-scanner so you can bind it to spacebar, but keep using the old probe scanner. Problem solved

This and give moving probes the priority when mousing over them and other icons on the map. Background does need to altered as many have asked. That said, hardly enough to throw out this system because it's not perfect. It's new. Guess what, most new things have bugs. You can turn it off. Be glad for that. That RARELY ever happens. Usually, CCP does toss the old system when introducing a new one. Deep breaths, guys, think happy thoughts.Big smile

Maybe you guys need a distraction? Hey, look...look at the kitty...

Also, if CCP ever needs ideas for replacing the loading screen on client start-up (or any loading screen, for that matter), put that in.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

something like this would be nice i have my d-scan anchored to my probe scan like i would have chat channels stacked.
that way i could adjust my probes in space and click scan/analyze without having to flick through windows.
