Seems like your fairly normal lost-at-sea ships...
Until you find the cannibalism nitbit at the bottom..

A bit chilling, makes one wonder if one would resort to cannibalism to stave off death for a bit.

One of the reasons I posted it here partly is because of the name Erebus which is the name of the Gallente Titan ship.
I thought, maybe the name came from the HMS Erebus ship.
Well, here is the real life story of the ship name.

This link is a real life British case of young boys eating one of their own to survive while stranded on a desert island.
(They are also indicted, before further studies suggests , or partly proves otherwise...
Societies beliefs to protect themselves are sometimes based on instinct to seclude rather than based on facts , since accurate analysis of those facts is either omitted or costly to find.)

As for the led poisoning, it can be used by captain to save remaining crew of a, say, submarine, sunk at the bottom of the sea with no rescue nearby until the oxygen runs out killing all of the crew...
That way, perhaps 20% or more can survive...

Also, I didn't verify yet, but I am pretty sure that in 1848, it was how the land was included to the country's landmass claims that is now Canada.
Groenland or Greenland is still where it was.

2 or more of my ancestors were around during the time of those pioneers, which are not the oldest, but still.
The first I found is from around before 1666.
The second around 1750, apparently related to the first , although there is no historical mentions of it (yet).
And the last , exactly of around that time period, although not related to the previous 2, and not in the same area, region or location.

Except it is not related to the Erebus or the North Pole ice cube machine.

Cannibalism in that case is ok for me. Sadly Its just a meat when person is already dead. And meat is food, proteins, fat, energy.

Dead can save life.
