The new neocoms

The latest sisi release does not only come with some assault ship changes but some UI facelifting as well and my first impression is that the shiny wallet "blink" is not longer or hadly visible.

Same goes for the journal and mail icons.
I suggest that you tune the "blink" color up a lot to get the attention back as it is now on TQ.

Now the new blue skill training bar I like, even I didn't need any it is nice to look at.

The new menu-style thingy on the other hand I don't like to much. We are forced to play on Windows so don't put that into EVE.
Menus okay but that menu button thingy, well I don't know.
I am used to the UI for about half a decade now and I never heard anyone ever complaining about it except for the "lock windows when pinned" which was just plain bad to take away.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Indeed - up the visibility of the blink more so we can actualy see it happen and also able to rename a created group would be helpful

Or just let keep the older icons I prefer that.

I disagree on your comment about being on Windows.

It's a format we've all gotten used to, even in other operating systems. The expandable menu with a dockable taskbar is a very user friendly way to organize applications and open windows.

I currently have 22 chat windows open in game. The new "windows" style neocom is perfect for someone like me.

The only thing missing right now is a smaller portrait in chat windows so we can fit more people vertically.

There's already a thread going on about this, and it already includes a few responses from the devs.

Thankyou kind sir.

However it's hard to tell that NeoCom discussion is going on in that thread through all the long-winded faction warfare discussion.

You do not like the new no pictures at all option?

There is now an option for a compact list without portraits. Right-click on the chat window title bar to see the option.

Indeed. But since devs are already going through a hughe threadnaught to reply to some stuff, it might be a good idea to keep the feedback in one place and avoid them some extra work. Otherwise, they might consider avoiding it themselves by not answering anything but what's inside their "official release" post.

Found it... Now, I want to be able to stack my chat windows into a group and put them on my neocom in a named "group" like: 'intel' 'leadership' 'social'

Im not really sure what to make of the neocom. I copied all my TQ settings, windows positions etc into the SISI settings folder and loaded expecting everything to me a mess.

I was happy to find window behaviour exactly the same as before but the bar on the left had been altered. So i quickly reorganised that bar to be pretty much what it was before and left it at that.

Seems like a waste of development time to me. I didnt even know that bar had a name let alone any need to be upgraded to serve exactly the same function lol.

this is awesome, it has most of the same functions as the old neo neocom, but vertical. Brilliant.

now all we need is a new overview to stop the game from looking like a spreadsheet!

Well since people can customize it and have "not what the old neocom is", it doesn't really serves the same function.
And plus, there can be a lot of reasons for them to update the Neocom without having to add new features, like upgrading the tech beneath it and make it more flexible, or make the code run more smoothly, or whatever.

A change was well due, it's good to know that the team Pink Zombie Kittens made sure that the changes would not ruin everyone's settings and cause massive drama all over again.

Whatever the reason, im just releaved it hasnt completely messed up the way i have my windows.

As for the neocom, im completely indifferent on all aspects apart from the chat windows that minimise on to the neocom.

At the moment when i minimise a window it goes to a tile at the bottom of the screen. To maximise the window i click it ONCE.
With the new neocom i have to click once to open a menu, find it from a list of all hte currently open chat windows regardless of if they are maximised or minimised and the click AGAIN.

CCP needs to realise that this is in no way an improvement to chat window functionality and i request that the chat icon be trashed and reverted to the old method of minimising windows.

It is an improvement if space is a commodity. Sure you have to click twice, yet it keeps everything under a single easy to access menu. If you have a massive monitor with space to store a dozen tabs across the bottom, great, yet I prefer the new sub menu. Given more functionality of course, I'm not ready to give my love to it so easily.

A watch list of channels you actually want to monitor as a screen tab would be nice though, so you don't have to look at the menu tab to see if it was an important channel blinking. Actually, you cant even tell if a channel is blinking without opening the chat menu currently which is a huge minimize problem.
Perhaps an option for auto expanding chat sub menu when you mouse over would be in order.

The current reaction time of the UI leaves much to be desired as well. It is not as instantaneous as a right click context menu. Trying to mouse to the sub menu too fast will cancel your click request for the menu.

The new grouping menus are also useless currently as you cant name them, change icon, or color code them even. They are all just labeled "group" when moused over with a generic layer icon. You can take away icons deep within groups yet cant add buttons to groups within groups so you have to build it from the inside out and hope you don't want to change anything.
Lets me make a useless dumb maze though http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab303/Firetempest/groupmaze.png
