+1 to CCP! The old tunes bring back memories, and low-sec doesn't sound so boring! (honestly, I switch the music off whenever I'm in low sec).

I listen too it and feel like I heard all this when I started, but it's been different for a while.

When was the actual music changed to begin with? I only started in 2013 so it seems odd.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

Agreed.

Now CCP needs to make dynamic jukebox out of all the old school songs.

"Infinate distortion of space and time" is neat.

This is the stuff the jukebox will play.

That minmatar rock song is found in combat sites when you hit the gate. Some missions or something.

Is "We fight proud for the holder" actually supposed to play anywhere in the game? it's pretty awesome.

I always wondered how systems sounded when lots of people died there. CCP said it would sound different. If the more dramatic songs like "Doomed forever" started playing in a highsec system it would make sense. I don't know if I've encountered the variations CCP speaks about.

Dynamic jukebox would involve an actual dynamic track engine. The game does not support that. It supports a region based track.

Talk of certain music playing based on things happening around you is false. Yes, it came from CCP, and no it doesn't actually happen. It was an idea that came out unfinished, because thats what CCP always does.

If they had gone all the way with it, there would have been a valid argument for replacing the jukebox code. As it stands they would have been better off keeping the jukebox with region subfolders.

That said, creating a truly dynamic soundtrack would involve a massive workload on RealX as he would have to give just about every song in the game at least one additional combat layer that would kick in when the action picked up. Probably would be a much more realistic project if they had more than one music guy, and if that guy wasn't wasting all his time on pointless login screen tracks that are never heard from again after a month.

Ugh.... just thinking of how mis-managed the sound design is on this game gets me pissed off.

I downloaded all the tunes a long time ago and play them through a well-behaved freeware player I discovered.

There just isn't anything that can be said!
