Hi,

Basically the issue is...I created a first character and begun training a skill that took 4 days to complete (noob move I know) I then created a new character which I am now using. I am aware that you can only train one character at a time, therefore I deleted the original one I created which was training and carried on playing with the new character, only problem is now I am unable to train skills on the character which I'm using (even though the old character no longer exists) it says you can only train one at a time...but I only have one :S

Any ideas?

If the other character has been deleted, submit a ticket with all the details and let the GM's sort it out. Note that you didn't need to delete the other character - simply pause the queue and login as the second character and apply.

You could have also just started training something else. A very common practice that I use is to put a long skill in my queue then just keep throwing shorter ones in front of it.

That way you might not actually finish that 4 day skill for a month or more but in the mean time you'll have a lot of shorter skills trained. Also if you are on a trial and can not add skills after 24 hours you can still add less than 24 hours worth of skills in front of what you have. That way if you have to work late or for some other reason can't log on that day, then there is no panic to get skills in your queue. You'll just train the long skill for a bit.

This early on pretty much anything that you can train you'll eventually use anyway so it's never wasted skill points. Even if you train 2 days of a 4 day skill and don't finish that skill until years down the road.

not just at the OP but to any other newer players out there coming up against this same situation deleting a character with skill points that you feel might have been "wasted" doesn't really gain you anything.

So you start out with about 400K skill points. Lets say that you trained another 200K into mining and then decide that you don't ever want to mine again, for example, deleting that character with 600K skill points and starting a new one with 400K does not get you any closer to your goal. You are just starting where you would have been but now missing about 4 days worth of mining skills.

I know early one and especially coming from other MMOs that where you put your skill points might seem like a big deal but skill points are not as big of a deal in this game. Certainly nothing like levels are in other games or even compared to things like spec trees in other games.

There is no mechanic in Eve to skills back once you've trained them so you have to just focus on moving forward. If your tastes or playstyle changes (which it will) you just change up your skill queue accordingly and move forward.

Also at the OP when you delete a character there is a cool down for a certain amount of hours. If you have just started the timer for deletion and have not actually deleted the character I think that you can stop the timer and reactivate that character and then go into that one and stop the skill queue then start the skill queue on the other character. Of course if you don't need to make room for another alt you can always just keep that character around as well.

It's your call, I'm just trying to give you some options.

You do know there is no 24hour limit now?
My skill queue is now like 200days long.

Trial accounts still have 24 hour limit on them.
