I just ordered a new computer and not sure it will run EVE.

Current ones:

1) 3 GHz two Core pentium 4, GT 630, 4 GB, Ubuntu 32-bit (dead graphics card now, was my EVE machine)
2) Dual Core 1.6 GHz, 8600 GT, 2 GB, Win XP (browser / comms machine)

The one on its way:

1 x AOC E2470SWDA 24" LED VGA DVI Monitor (to match the identical other one I have)
1 x MSI X99A SLI PLUS Socket LGA2011-3 USB 3.1 7.1-Channel HDAudio ATX Motherboard
2 x Hyperx Fury Black 32GB (4x8GB Kit) 2666MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL15 DIMM
1 x MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming 8GB GDDR5 Dual-Link DVI-D HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card
1 x Corsair RM750i RMi Series 750 Watt Fully Modular Power Supply Unit 80 Plus Gold Certified
1 x Fractal Design Define R5 Black Pearl Window Side Panel Computer Case
1 x Intel Core i7-5820K 3.30GHz Socket 2011v3 15MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor
1 x Seagate 500GB 3.5" SATA Desktop Hard Drive

Think it will manage to load the game?
Maybe I need to put it on lowest settings?

I am thinking Free OS or Damn Small Linux to save on hard drive space.
Although I hear loading Mac OS is no problem these days and goes with any hardware.
Also, for after market cooling, I heard that welding the case shut and filling it with cooking oil works really well.

and most importantly - Power Quest MAINS power cable ... solid core, teflon shielding http://www.audioquest.com/power-cables/nrg-4

And MAINS power core stabilizer (power conditioner) http://www.furmansound.com/index.php?div=03

Without that you are pretty much at loss and compromise your CPU clarity

Did you order enough fans and lighty bits? If not, EVE will refuse to run at 4K and performance at a peasant's 1080p will be well below 160fps.

I have CPU 9483 MB and 3+HD Graphics with 20 CPU-RAM. It runs pretty good with 50fps.

Case comes with two fans and I can steal more from the dead machine.
I do think I need to get a surge protector.

I presume you ask in jest?Shocked

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

I play EVE on a Commodore 64, anything newer than that will run EVE.

Should have chopped off 16 gb of that RAM (32 won't be utilized before the rest of the PC is obsolete and will have zero impact on performance over 16, probably even 8 in all honesty) and used the money to get a nice 500gb PCIe SSD.

You can utilize it all if you have enough accounts.

Also Jenshae, that build is overkill and a waste of money, further go stroke your PCpeen elsewhere.

Windows 10 alone (+ background processes) runs for me at 4gb usage, each eve client on top of that uses an additional 0.5gb. So that's 32 more clients running to get from 16gb to 32gb of RAM usage. 24 clients just to max out usage on 16gb of RAM. So seriously.... if you're gonna run 56 eve clients at once, by all means you better have 32 gb of RAM.

And it's not overkill if you actually plan on doing something besides EvE with it... I know right, who would do that. I agree about the PCpeen though. :)

Actually, considering the work that I do now, it is about right. Blink
See how old these old machines are? I tend to keep machines for a long time and the pace of hardware development has slowed way down. (Also, more eco-friendly. Producing less hardware. If you tell yourself that the energy is green, which a lot of it is in the UK as green energy has surpassed coal and is second only to nuclear.)

Fair enough, some applications might make use of it. Just not any I'm aware of. :) I'd still say the performance increase of a SSD drive over just the sata drive is a much better investment though.

Faster (SATA though) and larger drive in the old machine. This one is just to test out 64 bit operating systems before I upgrade that drive.
As to applications using it, sometimes it can be massive arrays when you deal with national data and tele-commute occasionally.

P.S. Anyone ever tried getting a dual boot to run with RAID? I suspect I might have to use a virtual machine when I grab some more drives.

Too bad the EVE launcher does not run that well on Linux, AFAIK.
I have a 8-year old computer which always had some problems with running EVE on Linux, but on W7 it's fine.

Scripts from theses forums in Linux section.

Just a note:
If you look closely enough at the machine, I could have halved the cost of the box and paid 3x more for a graphic card(s), using the same budget, that would have made it a better gaming computer. This is closer to a server because of the job.
