Gidday everyone!

As announced at EVE Vegas, we're forming a Capital Focus Group. This group will help provide feedback on the future plans for capital ships (including Super-Capitals!).

  • We will use this forum thread to accept applications from players who wish to participate in the focus group
  • The decision on which players are invited to the focus group will be made by CCP
  • This focus group will not receive any secret information, and therefore will not be required to sign any NDAs
  • We plan on making the logs of the focus group chat public for everyone to view. Everyone can see what is being discussed, but only focus group members and CCP devs can actually talk
  • When selecting focus group members, we will be looking for people who can demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and provide reasoned and calm feedback. We also want the members to have significant experience flying Capital Ships and have strong knowledge of EVE gameplay, fittings and balance
  • The focus group will take place in a Slack team, so members will need to be able to use Slack

Focus group members will not be forced to attend any meetings or to pass any minimum activity thresholds. People in any time zone are welcome.

If you're interested in participating in this focus group, please post in this thread with an explanation of why you feel that you would make a valuable addition. We'll provide a list of members and details of how players can observe the chat logs before we start inviting people to the Slack team.

Cheers!

Hi,

Within my own alliance i'm known for my work with capitals (both flying and killing them), specifically their mechanics and the way that capitals interact with the rest of the game as a result. I've been flying capitals since 2008, and have had experience of pre and post dominion capital combat, on scales ranging from Solo, right the way up to the infamous B-R.

I have relatively recently pushed broken mechanics into the limelight, as an attempt to drive balance and change for capital combat (ex: Garage door, POS Log-in titan bumping, SunBounce cyno). Whilst there are those who would argue that i've pushed these for my own advantage, the fact remains that i've always justified my argument, and pushed for a more balanced capital battlefield.

I'm excited for the new capital changes, and am currently working on a report aimed at the focus group setting, whether i am chosen to take part myself or not:

Second :)

I've owned multiple supers/titans and have used them on all scales of battles (B-R etc.). I think that I would be a great asset to the team because I would be the person who is able to collect a ton of the feedback and filter them as extra info for the rest of the experts and devs.

Edit: an actual post!

I've been heavily involved in this area of the game for most of the last decade. From being in the first generation of GoonSwarm capital and supercapital pilots, to doomsdaying carriers before it was cool, to manufacturing hundreds of supercapital hulls for others. Over the years I have done everything from sieging towers in a Moros to hauling them inside a retrofitted Nyx. I've deployed outposts via Titan bridge and saved them with Triage. I've been both invader and invaded on many occasions.

After all this time what I really want is to see an Eve where capital ships are deployed and blown up as much as possible, rather than stocked up like cold war nukes and left to gather dust. They should be rewarding to fly and an aspirational part of the game, even if that aspiration is to blow up as many as possible. Most of all they they should be fun.

After attending both the Capital Changes panel and Q&A and the Citadels presentations, and follow up hallway discussions with Larrikin I was very impressed that in these capital updates it is being done with a focus of broadening and deepening play and not just re-balancing ship stats. I am a big fan of making game play broader and deeper and allowing for a lot more options. It looks like some of the goals of the changes are to encourage players to have less homogeneous doctrines and both need and want to deploy in a broader ways.

I fly carriers and occasionally dreadnoughts. I have lived in wormholes, low sec, and 0.0 space. I have never flown a super capital in combat and am not the foremost expert on fishing them like Rocket X. I am very interested in helping expand capital game play and to make it more interesting, varied, and fit into a combined arms type doctrine.. Honestly blobs of slowcats aren't all that much for anyone involves nor is the current dread mechanic where you're a throwaway mega-turret. Anything I can do to help broaden or give alternative ideas I'd like to. I'm not wedded to the current mechanics or systems and acknowledge as someone who also designs and develops software for a living that some things are more achievable than others and have varying level of payoff for level of effort.

Anything I can do to help I am willing to do.

Making the official post.

Lord's Servant/Servant's Lord/boge (this char).

I have extensive capital/supercapital experience going back years, ranging in everything from large-scale null super/cap work, to lots of wspace small-midsize work, and am one of a handful of people in the game with personal solo dread/supercap work.

I also enjoy breaking weapons systems hilariously (*cough* dunk phoenix *cough*) and enjoy the **** out of capitals; they are a large part of my enjoyment in playing this game.

Y'all know me. :)

Will the dev -> player feedback be better in this focus group? Seeing how there was next to 0 communication with the first one

I would like to be included as a 'new super pilot' perspective.

About me, I finished JDC V just before phoebe was announced, I have spent the last 2 years training from scratch my own super alt to do awesome things. I have had to solo move my super around eve, dodging all the hunting groups and learning as I go with advice from some people who will share (not many) and trying with killboards and the few youtube vids I can find, using sisi and my own often drunken late night move ops to practice. My super is still alive, and the skill queue is almost complete. I will have perfect skills at the end of , just in time for supers to change forever. XD

You all merely adopted jump fatigue, I was born in it, molded by it.
I did not leave derelik until I was already a man!

My dream remains the same, to own a big badass war machine and bring fear to my enemies. I have big dreams of solo super and the citadel changes making my ship even more dangerous. My main thing in eve is solo and small gang pvp with therabois or fleets with waffles. I want to do that same small gang high risk stuff with my super someday too. I want to be in the blob that makes the next headline on BBC )))

There are far far far more experienced super pilots and FC's and I completely understand if I am not picked.

But if you want the perspective of a new super pilot, someone who has big dreams and has been training and montage-ing for almost 2 years now, all under the umbrella of phoebe and the state of supers now. HMU CCP. )))

I'll toss my hat into the ring. I've use capitals for years. I lived in wormholes both as a resident and as a person just looking to farm anomalies. I've also been the CEO of a mid-size alliance in lowsec utilizing capitals and supers at times. I've seen the complications of trying to use them in small groups and the different complications from using them in big groups now that I'm in PL.

I got this!

Hello,

In a previous life, I am the former owner of Major JSilva [who is currently owned by Rixx]. I have had extensive experience with flying capitals and supercapitals in "hot drops" both good and bad[we were setup], sov grinds and massive fleet engagements[Asakia, BR]. I also understand the pve appeal and the production/logistical side of capital's and supercapitals having been involved in running Brothers of Tangra renter organization.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

I would like to participate in the Capital Focus Group.

I started playing in Eve in 2008 and have tried a variety of play-styles. Recently, I have been focused on flying carriers and other logi ships and would have insight into how the new Force Auxiliaries would play into battles.

I have flown carriers into slowcat combat, triage, and structure rep operations many times in null sec against major null sec groups.

I have built capitals and have experience in the industrial side of capital gameplay.

Previously, I have done beta testing in other MMOs, such as Ultima Online and Everquest.

My communication skills are good. Here are examples of my writing on Eve: http://crossingzebras.com/author/dunk/

I am even-tempered and unlikely to create drama.

I know how to write bug reports in a detailed fashion with specifics and test for repeatability.

Lastly, I give good soundboard in fleet.

Backing xttz's claims to super usage, he is a good candidate for us.

edit: Also Sebastien Saintfrusquin, he is way too risky with his titans though!

I would be interested and happy to contribute. As a long-term eve player, alliance leader and FC I have a keen interest in seeing capital ships fulfil a variety of roles for player groups both large and small.

I'm excited by the prospective cap changes and hope the end result delivers an outcome for use of capitals where skill and tactics are as relevant as they are in the subcap theatre.

I believe I can bring a creative contribution from the perspective of a midscale alliance.

Why not!?

Been in a carrier (can't afford a Super or Titan...) for a few years, with a bit of use. I've been playing Eve since 2005, so I've seen the whole gamut of balancing passes that have graced all of the ships I love/hate. I feel like I'm a good communicator if I'm around other good communicators, and I'd love to have a hand in helping bring Capitals back to their place of prestige.

Thanks

Cedric

Hi,
I would like to throw my hat into this.

I've been whelping caps since they pretty much came out so I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of all the good and bad associated with them. As a ceo of a corp that is "mildly" cap heavy I want to see these things used probably more than most.

p.s. I own a Hel......

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring, I own a titan, supercarrier, dread, carrier, I even own a rorqual. I've run supercap fleets for the past few years. I have a plethora of ideas on how this new capital redesign can go from "awesome" to "more awesome" and would love a chance to be involved.

Greetings,

I have loved Capitals and Supercapitals even before playing EVE. The Trinity trailer (forever the best in my heart, but the Dominion one runs a close second) showing the Hel and Nyx in all their magnificence got me to start playing, with the goal of getting one day my own Hel or Nyx, or both.

Since then, I have steadily worked up my way to owning and using all the Capitals and Supercapitals in the game, and even managed to get myself a Fleet Commander chair in the CFC/Imperium - which considering how aggressive I am seems like one of those weird decisions that someone will really regret one day !

I have been in B-R5RB, I have won and lost Capital fights, I have solo-hotdropped dozen of Capitals, I have (sometimes) survived counter-hotdrops, I have been in structure in my Ragnarok and lived to tell the tale, I have planned traps, I have walked intro traps... but I have never mined with these ships now that I think about it.

I love Capitals, I love Supercapitals (except the Revenant, DPS doesn't excuse its looks), and I love what I have seen so far about the changes that have been proposed. My enthusiasm is bursting through the seams of my jacket, and I would be honoured to put it to the service of the community by taking part in this Focus Group.

I volunteer as tribute.

I have flown both carriers and dreads in many different circumstances. Specifically WH triage and escalations for my carriers and WH PvP, WH escalations, and Null sec PvP for my dread characters. I have also used caps for other utility roles in Wh's for things such as hole rolling.

I have been playing for 2 years and have spent the last year and a half working heavily with capitals.

I currently greatly enjoy piloting triage in small numbers in medium-scale fights in lowsec or w-space, so definitely count me signed up for this.

I won't waste the time of anyone reading with my position on the changes as currently proposed - for the interested, it can be found here.
