Utility and DPS - can this be beaten? :)

Not only mere theorycrafting, but - I suppose - an actually useful PVE setup that does an ungodly amount of DPS - obviously particularly in regards to Sansha/Blood Raiders, but TBH pretty effective against nearly every rat type.

My connection is a little iffy at the moment so cap stability is fairly important - I put in the TCs in EFT so as not to broadcast the shame of cap rechargers, but I usually pop them in.

1442 DPS with Conflag, definitely more with 5% damage implants, but CBA popping them into EFT. With them, in-game, it goes up to 1560 DPS - not shabby at all. Cap stable without MWD running.

Please, feel free to comment - or even better, is there a single weapon ship setup that can out-DPS this (so no Rattlesnakes, please!)? No point filling the lows with officer stuff - for what it does, I would consider this pretty good value.

It won't have the range or tank but Vindi will out DPS it.

As far as the fit, it is extremely easy and profitable to gank. Besides that it should work.

Yup, trivially easy to gank with the Polarised weapons. Mostly theorycrafting, but I hadn't considered the Vindi - thanks for that, Loyd :)

Check out Gustav Mannfred's videos, he made a few polarized Marauder fits.

You're right, Scorch is the main go-to ammo, but for a variety of situations where the rats orbit at 30km or less, it works pretty darn well

This has about enough EHP to be alpha'd by an entire THREE tornadoes while using a low-ish 1.5bn in modules. How much are three tonadoes again? .3bn fitted?

Of the top of my head here's an entirely unsensibly overtanked and omnitanked PvE Paladin.

Reactive Armor Hardener
Corpii C-Type Adaptive Nano Plating
Large Armor Repairer II

Salvager II
Small Tractor Beam II

Large Energy Locus Coordinator II
Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Crystals are Conflag, all numbers are cold
Worse tracking ( 0.029 °/s vs. 0.0374 °/s )
Worse DPS ( 1022 vs. 1441)
about the same range ( 31.8+15.6 vs. 28+21)
better active tank (384/1004 without and with bastion vs 354/708)
better buffer tank (74k/102k without and with bastion vs 30k)
both are omnitanked xD
worse caplife (1:45 vs 2:03 not using the cap booster though with an MJD and Scorch you shouldn't need to run the MWD a lot)
Slightly more utility (MJD/Web though you can drop latter for a tracking scripted TC I recon)
slightly cheaper ( 1.1bn total vs 2.5bn total )

Now you can drop the RAH and the ANP and upgrade to an EANM and another HS and you get another roughly 100 DPS with Conflag for 1100 and let's say we go crazy expensive on the repper and EANM (Corpum C-Type for 200m together ... crazy expensive I tells ya) the tank goes up to 450/1237 and that's still cold. Obviously you can bling out the rest of the fit as well (faction web and 2 INHS?) but

TL;DR:
personally I'd never bling a ship running polarized weapons

Or you could simply make a 2100 dps shield tanked Vindicator :)

Or you could just do a cruise/sentry rattlesnake and get 1400 dps, with a tank, and all the range one could ask for.

Ye-es, that is a possibility I suppose - but blasters though...

That split DPS is annoying though, but I shall definitely peruse the fora again and look at some fits. Certainly it's more robust and probably cheaper than the theorycrafting fit I posted in the OP.

Good skills and implants can make that 1800 DPS

But even with Wardens its still 1500 or so with 120KM range.

1500 DPS at 120KM range? Yea nothing but I do mean nothing beats a Rattle at PVE at the moment.

It wins on Price, Range and DPS. Tank could be better but who needs that when it does the other 3 so well.

What shame? and besides you just admitted to it anyway so why not put them in and be honest about your fit.
There are many of us that share the same problem with crappy internet connections. Those who scoff or ridicule people for cap stable mission fits either have really large wallets (in game or real life) or they have never struggled with a bad internet connection.
