S o who is going to fly the AC Punisher once the changes come in December?

It's losing the laser damage bonus again so no need to fit them at all.
4 Turrets! and an extra low slot AND more fitting!!!

AC Punisher with 4 200mm's, SAAR AND 400mm plate......I'll be flying them again!

wut?😱

~100 dps at 0.8+6.4, up to 130ish with a gyro. eh, not sure it is very appealing. that said it might be a better ac boat than most of the minny frigs Lol

my best hope for the ship is that it turns into a somewhat usable t1 slicer. might need a little more love for that though

kinda. that said there are only so many ways you can fit a laser boat, but with the extra low slot the slot layout of the punisher and slicer will be almost the same. the executioners role is pretty much a tackle boat, but it also has that third mid so it can go in scram range with a web and have a chance at range control. but I can certainly see a bunch of similarities between the slicer and executioner, and before the punisher changes I would have considered the executioner to be closer to a t1 slicer.

Point being is that the punisher without the laser damage bonus is pretty pointless.

That's why the AC punisher came about. Now with the extra slots/turret/fitting room why would anyone fit lasers as you will get more damage/tracking/flexibility from the other turrets systems.

In a lot of ways I'm disappointed as I really like the punisher as a laser boat but now.......

Projectiles are so bad you need damn good skills to make them more appealing on a Rifter than beamlasers are. Go check it out.

I am aware of laser rifters but that's not what I'm talking about.

It's AC on a Punisher. With the new fitting and slot layout there will be a lot of case where other Turrets than lasers will be better.
Hell a blaster punisher will be a nasty piece of work. Or maybe even an arty punisher!

There was a reason the punisher got the cap use bonus swapped to a damage bonus in the first place as only die hard amarr fans (myself included) would fit lasers to them. Now they have taken the damage bonus off and give it the cap use bonus back but with an extra turret slot to make up.

So yeah you will be able to keep similar fits to current and get a bit better at everything but.......without the damage bonus to lasers it gives a lot more options now.

But yeah lasers (especially beams) are in a really good place right now. Not that they ever really left a good place but were shunned for a while there.

I think blasters with oversize ab will be the way forward for brawling punishers, and I think mwd + long point and heavy tank is another good option... but it would be so much better with a tracking bonus.

My point is: Do you really think Autocannons will be a good weapon platform on the new Punisher, when Beam Lasers are pretty much a valid choice on a hull that is BONUSED for projectiles? As in, similar dps on similar ranges, but with the option to shoot actually a bit further?

Blasters on the Punisher, sure, why not. But without a Web, well, good luck! Might see some good old no-point-punishers then. Rails, maybe. But with an MWD then.

Yes Small Auto's are a decent weapon system. In a much better position to the other turrets than mediums for example.

And yes I do see the potential for useful AC Punishers. But then again with the recent years of minnie and projectiles waning in popularity maybe not many will actually get flown. I'll probably have a few fitted to whelp around Lol

Depends on how you want to fly the slicer. For kiting the exe resembles the slicer way more then the punisher ever wil. For brawling, well.... maybe... but who brawls with a slicer anyway?

Okay now I am curious, as far as I know the second we undock from a station and be on our merry ways with swim in an escape pod which is filled with soothing goo (makes your skin soft and silky):

Why do we need air conditioning?

I probably would have said that, but I put them all in EFT and the ships are far more similar than I would have expected. EXE is actually faster than the slicer, the punisher is a little bit slower.

anyways I don't think ac/blasters will work all that well, with 2 mids the punisher doesn't really have a good option to control range. Ram & scram in null will probably work as most targets will likely be mwd fit, but vs standard lowsec brawlers no chance.

I thought the same at first, but a bit of testing around and I decided when the Punisher-buff comes it's time to go blaster. I've already prepared some fits I want to try.
