Caldari destroyers and cruisers for PvE

As far as I've seen, most people can be put into 2 groups: people who like destroyers and those who don't.
I'm wondering if it's really worth skipping the destroyers from the frigates, in favor of the cruisers if I'm gonna run missions. Some people I know have said that destroyers are a waste, but I really don't see a downside. Opinions?

I could put some effort into this signature, but nah

You need destroyers at 3 to research cruisers 1. You also need them for training tactical destroyers, which are great for pvp and can be also used for low level missions.

Got all the skills for them, but that's besides the point. Are they worth it or should I wait till I can afford cruisers?

If you only want to run missions skip to cruisers.

There are very few skills that wont be useful to you eventually, especially if you want to max out mission running for your isk needs. A Tengu isn't the best but almost all the skills required to fly it is super useful for example.

If you like mission running then weapon systems and support skills that will be very useful would be T2 hybrids, gunnery support skills, Rapid light missile launchers and missile support skills. Those are all used in the caldari ship line. You can later on move towards projectiles (all sizes) and the Machariel and burner missions where the hybrid and missile skills will be used quite a bit.

tengu is a great option, it may not be the best at isk/hr'ing but its certainly the most flexible if you ever want to venture to nullsec to mission run, i can fly machs, rattlers, domis, vargurs etc but i still choose to mission in my tengu its just more fun Big smile

Before training into Tengu, perhaps check out the Gila. The Gila is mainly focused on using medium sized drones, but it also does use Missiles.

I love both of these cruiser size ships P

EVEBoard ...Just over 60million skill points, each skill was chosen for a reason. I closed my eyes & clicked another skill to train... "BINGO...!!!" ... "This time i got something usefull"
