Black screen after clicking play on launcher

I am having an issues on win 7 prof 64 bit

I fire up the launcher, enter password etc and click play but all i get is a black screen. Ive run repair and restarted but no difference. any ideas?

I have the same issue on Windows 8.1. Saw the other threat about this but none of the suggestions in there worked so far. Waiting to check again after downtime.

I keep getting an error message that the "CCP ExeFile has stopped working"

Have you tried 2 things, game closed, try first one before 2nd


- locate Rescache.exe in the binary folder of eve client (where exefile.exe is)
run it as administrator
it will try to repair corrupt game
try relaunching, if not working, next step

- go to your game setting folder C:\Users\%username%\appdata\local\ccp\eve\
locate the right game folder, it should be the last modified one ( looks like c_program_files_ccp_tranquility)

you can see in the folder 2 subfolder, cache and settings, first delete the cache folder and launch the game
if not working close client, go back and delete both folder (or rename) you will lose ALL SETTINGs (overview, chat, ....) but you should not go to this third step.

it step 1 and 2 don't try full uninstall and delete remanent files and reinstall or at this step open support ticket at support site

Similar issue here with one notable difference,

I load 3 accounts and only one account has this black screen issue.

lots of post about that, 2 cases appears to come out :
corrupted files even when 1 account is working
server side problem (other post with Dev response https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=443481 )

try to do the rescache and cleaning, it helps all the account anyway, and it will be probably be asked of you to do it at some point

Issue was fixed for me, something to do with the skill queue I believe.

1h20min from ticket to resolution based on your posts, then I guess support is on this issue and knows about it. I guess I'll stop replying the same usual cleanup cache answer :)

I am currently reinstalling with the Offline Downloader. I am curious to try your suggestions. Once this install is done, that's my next step. This is a very frustrating problem, that's for sure.

ah, full download or "short download"?

with the full download you don't really need to recheck/repair with rescache (it takes a dozen minutes, less if ssd, do it for fun?)
with the short version, you may want to ask the launcher to download all files, then you WANT to recheck
(not sure what the problem is with the launcher, devs were talking about a corruption due to a spécific http protocol command called range, that grab parts of file over the web, and obviously has issue since it corrupts data. But I don't know how the download all option work, full file or use http range)

anyway...

I thing opening a ticket to support will be the way here, this was a queue issue for abaddon, (perhaps linked to negative skillpoint from blood booster? pure supposition here, don't quote me, I probably spend too much time in this forum while rating and I start seeing things)

try the cache cleaning it doesn't hurt your setup, but open a ticket :)

No dice for me with either option. I'm still getting the "CCP ExeFile has stopped working" error.

I had to log a ticket and my training queue was deleted which then allowed me into game so I suspect some kind of corruption in the training queue

This happened to one of my accounts, after filing a support ticket i got assistance very quickly and well compensated for my lost time being unable to log in.

If all else fails, file a ticket! fixed it the first time myself but the 2nd time it was def their side that caused me unable to log in.

Lucky you my ticket has been open for 2 and a half days and the only response i have had was saying they guess it is fixed cause I got onto the characters once.... I have updated correcting that around 18 hours ago with no response. As a jump freighter pilot I am stuck with alot of other peoples valuable stuff unable to deliver or get my own stuff where it is needed. This is screwing me over royally.
