H Everyone,

I thought I would contribute this because it was an issue that caused severe headaches for me, but in the end was a simple solution that wasn't immediately apparent. Or documented.

I have a laptop and a 42inch tv I connect to via hdmi, and was looking for a way to run eve in both displays. I run both at 1920x1080. For some reason the client only offered 3310x1080 as the maximum resolution I could run at in fixed window mode. This resulted in my laptop screen being filled, but only half of my tv filled. I did not want to change my native windows screen resolution to suit 3310x1080 because this gave me boxed off sceens (both are widesceen[16:9]).

The solution came when I read this thread (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=359558) and found that there is a file easily editable in notepad where it stores the display settings you saved last time you played:

It's possible.

Although it should save that on auto, at least it does that for me when I run windowed.

The settings are in the following file;

c:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\path_to_your_eve_client\settings\core_public__.yaml

Under "device" and "DeviceSettings" you will find "BackBufferHeight: 800, BackBufferWidth: 1280"

Which is the resolution it will start in. But very strange if it doesn't save your window size when you exit the client because it does for me.

/c]

I used this method, and edited the fixed window resolution values so it was 3840(1920x2)x1080, forcing the client to stretch all the way as to fit both monitors.

This seems to have fixed the issue for me and the custom resolution I set in the file now appears in the clients drop down menu under display & graphics settings.

Hope this proves to be of some use to someone :)

oh nice; take my like

I never used fixed windows because of that, espcially with 2 monitors with different rez and aspect ratio (2nd is an old 4:3), and finally learned to live with windowed mode
stick you windows bar on the left, looks like Eve Neocom, and switching between multiple client is easy with preview in the taskbar
I quite like windowed mode, except for CCP lacks of understanding how a window works (you don't set a resolution, damn it; and you start it maximized, re-damn it)

but now with your technique, combined with multiple settings with beta launcher, this could change thing, with the alts on the second screen in fixed mode, needs more thoughts
