I just misinformed somebody that Snakes offered a smuggling bonus. Apparently they don't anymore. When did this happen?

I am not crazy. They totally had a smuggling bonus. It was some tertiary bonus with the drop icon in the attributes window. Whaaa?

I'm pretty sure that didn't work which is why it was removed.

Now that you mention it… Wasn't that the same thing as the skill (the name escapes me now) that they never actually implemented?

Maybe they just dumped it form the info because the actual mechanic was never put into place… vOv

edit: Anyway, I can't remember seeing it since the time I started considering getting some, which would make the removal date at the latest 2008, if not earlier (±senility factor).

On the same website:
Smuggling:
Proficiency at laying low and avoiding unwanted attention. From a base of 90%, each level of skill reduces by 10% the likelihood of being scanned while transporting contraband.

Click on the Attribute to see what else shares this ability, sure enough it is also shared by the now removed skill:

iirc there used to be a smuggling skill you could pick and train in character creation, I think it was available in the amarr bloodline. Some of the older item databases show various not included specialty smuggling skills, such as drone smuggling and such nonsense.

But yeah never been included or worked.

EDIT: someone beat me to it.

It was a sNuggling bonus. You misread. Cuddle up to yours and reconsider.

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

I think it was with crucible or so. One patch notes said they removed the snakes bonus at the bottom about 2-4 months ago or so maybe.

"Snake implants no longer list a bonus to smuggling as one of their attributes.", Crucible patch notes. We took it out because it didn't actually do anything, at least as far as we could tell. The customs mechanics are sufficiently... opaque that it's hard to be 100% sure.

Am I correct in thinking, then, that you're not sure how your own game works? LolOops

I doubt no one person that is part of any bigger team handeling a large project like an MMO (or any other system for that matter) knows all parts of it.

An MMO is a never ending work, with pieces of it constantly added, removed or changed. Some of them (I would guess core functions) are made to be able to handle constant rework, while some are just magically assembled and kept that way "because it works!" (I think everyone that did any kind of programming can relate to this).

With this said, I have no doubt in mind that Grayscale have no clue about how the deep secrets of the customs work. Big smile

Not unusual with a game this old. Alot of the older code was written by people who no longer work there, and they never explained it to anyone else/commented code properly/got it debugged to the point that it made sense.

Maintaining someone elses code usually involves alot of guesswork and hope. Shocked

Is this why when caught by customs you can just not bother answering their question until downtime to evade their wrath?
