Liberals and conservatives alike are always bashing on weed, inventing a bunch of bullsh*t "researches" that accuse weed of being harmful, toxic and highly addictive. Fear not, kush-aspirers, for I will tell you the truth about weed - no political biases attached.

Weed (also known as marijuana, MJ, grass, kush etc.) dates back to Asia and Asia Minor as early as 3000 BC, used as a recreational drug. Used freely back in the day, weed is banned in many countries and states due to political biases. Here's the real stuff about marijuana:

1) Weed is not addictive. This is a common political misconception, as people nowadays believe that smoking weed will make you 100% addicted. It's not like heroin or cocaine - your body won't be in agonizing pain if you don't take it. It's as addictive as you want it to be. People are addicted to cigarettes and die because of them, but nobody says a word there.

2) Marijuana is a medicinal plant. Administered via prescriptions, weed is used to treat anxiety, depression, loss of appetite in patients undergoing chemo and insomnia. Also, weed stimulates creativity, allowing you to possibly do a better job making that essay. Also, it is proven that weed decreases suicide rates.

3) Weed is not deadly. You don't die from smoking or eating weed. You're more likely to die from drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes than from consuming MJ.

4) Weed is not sinful (for you religious people). Somehow, the Church loves bashing on anything that can be considered a mortal pleasure (such as sex, alcohol or partying).

5) Weed is not a hardcore drug. Weed is a light, recreational drug that is in no way similar to the harder stuff - stay away from those.

Still, with all these arguments, some people just don't want to understand that weed is OK for you, as long as you use it in moderation (ANYTHING IN EXCESS IS BAD, EVEN WATER).
Some want the punishment for getting caught with kush to be even greater. That's the real crime, actually: tossing a poor youngster with a harmless drug into a violent prison for several years and tainting his record, forever disallowing him from getting somewhere in life.

States of the world, legalize the kush!

1) Cannabis is addictive psychologically rather than physically.
2) Medicine is dispensed in doses.
3) Any substance in enough quantities can be lethal.
4) *Shrug*
5) Weed can be a gate way drug and it can tip the chemical balances in your brain. My step brother used it once and went from normal to paranoid schizophrenic. Yes, he probably had the pre-disposition that may or may not have manifested itself due to other causes later in his life but cannabis did tip him at that point.

Mind altering substances are not something to be clowned around with.

1) yes it is, not chemicaly but it is regardless
2)"Marijuana is a medicinal plant" so are poppies, regulation is the difference between morphine and heroine.
3) smoking anything is harmful.
4) hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111!!!!!!!!one one one
5)your subjective opinion.

for those reasons alone its worth legalising just to have some oversight and regulation on it.

If smoking is not your thing, eating the kush will make you ring!

On a side note, weed can be put in cakes. You then eat the cakes, no smoking included.
Besides, smoking joints (if they have a lot of cannabis and no tobacco in them) has been shown by some studies to partially regenerate lung capacity that has been destroyed by smoking cigars and cigarettes.
And about the first reply saying that marijuana is lethal in large doses, there has never been a case of death by kush overdose. You'll just act more weird if you take more weed.

Weed contains chemicals which are homologous to some of the neuromediators used by your brain itself.
Messing up with your brain's biochemistry is by no means safe, as you can see in the case with Jenshae's bro.
Yes the dude most likely had genetic predisposition etc and you might not have such factors but what happened still raises questions.

Same goes with alcohol, coffee, tobacco and any other chemical that somehow affects your mind state. Some individuals tolerate some of these substances and some don't. If you do a simple calculation about the cost (I don't know where you're from but this is about the same for any country) to deal with health problems, lost work hours and overall damage caused by substance abuse you'd get a rough idea why governments are so reluctant to just allow people to do what they want.

This can easily run out of control, and per the rule quoted above, I am locking this post.
