For some reason, my Eve installation is 25G large, which seems a bit excessive. Just the

C:\users/Public/Application Data/CCP/EVE/SharedCache

is 24 GB.

Could this be related to the new laucher, which I tried?

If I remember well, the beta launcher uses a different EVE installaton, just in case something goes wrong... So you may have two duplicate installs at once, yes.
