Tranquility will finally become sentient and suck us all into a dystopian, hyper-capitalist world where pod pilots fight to the death over useless pixels.

All I know is, Dec. 21st is my birthday. Potentially may be the lamest B-Day part ever if crap goes down.

It's not any more foolish in believing that something might happen 21. December 2012 than believing that god exist.

Both is equally stupid, so yeah :)

The next rapture or doomsday I'm going to collect a bunch of clothes and shoes and start leaving them all over the ground, in parking lots, etc.

This would be most effective outside of a church.

Imagine the hilarity if you could make it look like everyone else was raptured, even for just five minutes.

Your thoughts on the Dec 21, 2012 doomsday scenarios?

Sauce? Not for the end of the world scenario, we all know it's going to happen, I need sauce for the date. I mean it could happen on new years day!

It's sad that this isn't a thread of reason, only of mockery,
because i actually have plenty of stuff to tell about all that...

The Mayan Calender, the connection to Sol and why it makes sense,
Solar Cycles and the variance of the sun (the invariance got debunked already,
by NASA!, but who cares anyway or who actually knows that), etc ...

... but as Ignorance is Strength nowadays, it's pretty useless anyway.

The majority of People nowadays are blinded by "Bread and Games",
blinded by those who tell "Truth" (Authority), by their own low self esteem,
(buy something for yourself and you feel better, it's called Consumerism)
and only can make fun of those who have actually something to say,
instead of making fun of those who can only make fun of others.

Nowadays people need to be manipulated and lied to,
because they don't listen to reasoning,
they only listen to those who lie to them. (see Politicians, for example)

Blinded sheep. Too bad.

(In before stupid responses that lack any reasoning and just give the usual shallow, braindead mockery.)
(btw, i am not an advocate of "the world will end at that day", i am an advocate of reasoning and gathering)
(data about this phenomenon which has many details that actually make sense, but nobody sees them,)
(cares about them, wants to know about them either because "Authority" says otherwise or simply because)
(it's not fun to think deep.)

i like the people who go "it won't happen mayans just quit adding on the calender"
many ancient cultures had doomsday things ending on the same day.
its a fact that that very day will be the peak of the suns solar activity for (iirc) the century.
the earth, sun and center of the galaxy will also be in a straight line.

now, do i think something will happen to end the world? nah, i think the world will persist, i do think something big will happen on or around dec 21 2012, maybe a revolution in america? a solar flare to wipe out world electrical grids? who knows...
but if the world remains normal i won't care, live life to the fullest and celebrate heavily the 19th-22nd as long as you can

Same thoughts as for 31st of December 1999 and 31st of December 2000.
Namely, "meh".

I think nothing will happen on that particular date.

But I think every last one of you should prepare for if something does happen in your area.

It doesn't take any specific date for **** to hit the fan.

The recent mass economic/political riots. Mass floods, droughts, precious metal bubble bursting, world wide economic collapse, small solar flare nuking a countries infrastructure.. I'm not even going to explain what would happen if US midwest got hit with one and all that wheat, corn, beans stopped being exported.

The horror of New Orleans, Japan, Indian Ocean tsunami. Earthquakes across the globe lately.. one might hit your area someday.

Blah blah blah.. seriously. Do please strive to be prepapred to fend for yourself in every aspect. Again.. doesn't take the clock striking a particular date. Can happen to one of you tomorrow.. a week, month, 5 years from now. Survive today, live tomorrow, yesterday is gone.
