it took me around a week and a half of grinding to get from 0 standings to 5.0 without the epic arc, in hostile nullsec, and because of no lvl 2 agents i had to grind lvl 1's for quite a while, is that sort of time really too long for people in a game?

Maybe for some, altho I see other applications after reading some of the CSM minutes that were linked, specifically to repair bad standings accrued to certain factions after certain activities like faction war etc. The fact that people do pay one another in game to tag along to repair or gain standings to corps and faction suggest that it is too long for some players already yes.

Fantastic concept and a whole new career opportunity for standing farmers to grind then sell excess standings with the more popular factions

If we are going to butcher all that makes characters characters then, by all means, let us go all the way.

Just delete NPC standings altogether. It is an awful, grindy mechanic that should die.

Being able to trade them would be better than nothing and at least allow people who DO enjoy the grind to profit from those who detest it.

honestly, I'm not against that.
As of now, the only reason for standings is to be able to run missions.

Corp standings can remain so that there's a progression to missions, but we can get rid of faction standings.
Security status can remain so there's at least one draw back to pirating, and if you're in FW then you're a war target for opposing factions.

i think people need to understand this isnt a game which is completed in 3 days like call of duty, how does a player gain any experience just buying everything for isk/aurum? it only benefits alts of vets, new players dont even know what lvl 4's are unless some vets in highsec explain to them what it is and tells them "yeah lvl 4's you can play for free".

greedy and impatient people are not suited to this game and it shouldn't be an attitude which is encouraged

In conjunction with current moves to allow newbros access to more game content I propose allowing players to extract and sell standings points they no longer use and place them on the market as items called something appropriate like "corporation referral". Newbros can then buy these and gain high standings with corporations so that they can access level 4 missions etc, without grinding through the lower levels.

* Would help prevent losing new players to boredom of low level grinding, allow them to get into better isk making activities more quickly, perhaps so they can gain enough isk for that SP packet that will keep them in the game longer.

* Enables players to profit from standings they no longer require if they move on to different areas of the game or different activities.

* Puts more control of our characters in our hands, fits nicely into the overall game design philosophy of giving us control over our experience through cooperation and competition with each other.

Thanking you in advance,

Yeah and let us trade LP too because why the hell not.

Not true. Faction standing also gives access to all locator agents of a given faction.

I'd much rather like to see faction standing playing a bigger role than being made irrelevant like this.

We've been saying this for a long time but it seems kind of pointless now with all the nerfs to standing requirements. There are many services that help you grind up the standings. Unfortunately it's only corp standings and not faction. They should have allowed players to better share and manage standings including factions instead of removing their requirements for pos and jump comes. It promotes player interaction instead of opening up everything for no effort.

The CSM XI Election are now open until March 25th, 2016. Consider Niko Lorenzio for CSM XI.

What is wrong with LP trading? I wanted that ability added for a long time.

That's only if you have negative standings with said faction.

As far as the whole locator agent thing, it doesn't give access to all locators, faction standing allows access to any agent.
If you have a 5 or better with a faction, then you can run lvl 4's for any agent in that faction.
