Well, EVE is now unenjoyable for most Mac users to the point of unplayable. I logged back in again after a weeklong absence to find the game in even worse shape than when I left. Severe lag from performing ANY kind of limited action - from delays on simply jumping through gates to the more serious screen-freezing/lock-up latency for something as simple as getting info on a module. I'm not even going to mention the market, because it was a literal Gong Show just trying to sell a handful of items...

Not that it matters, but I've already let two of my characters lapse this month (joining another two I abandoned in Summer) and set the final account to expire sometime next year when the subscription is up. Winter may be coming, but like many Mac owners I've been burned too often by repeat promises of improvements to keep hanging in there for another year. Especially when I find myself having less and less recreational time to devote to hobbies in general - let alone trying to justify the diminishing returns from EVE.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

I know I have had some "lag" issues and the weird won't load when undocking/gate jumping.

I believe the market, show info, industry tab lag has to do with the data base access and the way it is stored/cached on the Mac.

The IGB is crap and I just run in window mode and just use my OGB browser for all links.

The undock/gate lock up and a few random lock ups I have had while in space - not sue what causes them.

Ways to maybe reduce/eliminate issues on the player side - I used macports (some people use home brew) and had it install wine with all the support files and such that goes with it.
I have a feeling that the Mac client is a combo of issues with way Apple handles none Mac ecosystem applications (lack of support of other programming languages built in), the Mac Cider Bottle lack of support from those hired to do the support, and CCP for the lack of looking for better options.

So options you can do to play EVE on Mac!
Cider client
Use wine to install Windows version
Use Crossover (a version of wine)
Use a copy of Windows on your Mac
Use PlayonMac (another wine group, free and has decent support)

All of theses options though are not perfect - the CQ doesn't work on anything but the Cider client.
How can you Leo make them better - pick a method and use the feed back threads -
And realize, not every computer is the same, so your issues might just be limited to you and no one else.
