Our corp just decided to set up a pos, and while the tower is online, i cant seem to be able to anchor the Simple Reactor, I launch for corp, but then when I click on "anchor structure" nothing happens. Even when I do it from the POS menu.

Yes, I'm in lowsec

Yes, I have permissions

Ok, i figured out the arrorw thing a second after this post, but to make this post still useful, how close can you anchor things to each other?

There needs to be atleast one 'green box' worth of space between any structures that share the same structure size. This means they can be diagonally right next to each other, but they need to be atleast 1 box away from each other on atleast one of the x, y, or z axis.

Things get a little more complicated when you need to put up different sized structures, but there's no good way to explain that besides just trying it out.

This has been one of the most annoying ass things about setting up POS since its inception. One reason I am all for citadels.

Welcome to the club! Anyone that has ever setup a POS has been bitten by this, or they are lying Blink

For what it is worth, the only placement rule is stuff can't be in the same spot nor overlap. The art may or may not fill-up the positioning cube, but that is the object's full size as far as placement is concerned.

If something won't fit, move it one position over.

For what it is worth, do NOT anchor near the tower inside the force-field. Instead, anchor above, below, or significantly to one side (i.e. 50% of the tower to force-field distance). Also leave room to maneuver. It is really a pain to navigate a freighter or capital in a crowded POS layout, with a great risk of bumping on warp-in.

The only things requiring close proximity to use are... erm... structures that can be used: compression array, refining array, and ship assembly arrays within 3 km of a ship maintenance array.

Example: my refining and compression arrays are stacked as close as possible, but far from anything else. They have their own bookmark.
