Buy and sell volume vs total items exchanged at a given day

I have been able to pull all of the market data from my API. However, I am not sure that I understand what "Buy Volume" and "Sell Volume" is. I would like to find out how much of an item is bought and sold in a day. Is there a value for this?

Thanks

I think that is what Buy/Sell Volume means

Don't know if that makes sense. There is a Buy Volume value and a Sell Volume value. I see no reason for there being two values. I am thinking that Buy Volume and Sell Volume refer to the amount of buy and sell orders that are active. If so, how do I get total daily sales.

You don't. What you can do is keeping an eye on the market and kind of get a feel of it's development and how quickly items move. Alternately you can put up a few items and see how quickly they sell. There is no API value that tells you the daily sales or purchases.

It is not exactly precise, but you can derive it from the daily average price, coupled with the median low and median high price over X days. I do a lot of calculations over market data and I use a bit more spiced up version of that basic calculation and it works.

Now, the exact formula, that's my trade secret. However as my trade capital is not that high, I am considering releasing that kind of data to traders that have more time and more capital to invest than I do for a monthly fee, like eve-mogul does for profit calculation. If that interests anyone here, feel free to get in touch.
