Reddit thread.

Also if you go to Aria Systems and google them.
They are all about microtransactions and also Upsales and increasing revenue for subscription services.

Wow guys, this is freaking MAJOR NEWS.

Shrug, what exactly do you expect a business to worry about these days?

Like it or not, the games genre is evolving, and has been ever since the smart phones were invented, demonstrating that huge profits can be made by making something simple and micro-transactioning it to the masses. Why should they put in 5 years of effort to get almost 0 profit, when 1 year with simple graphics for a phone game can make them more, much more?

We're dinosaurs, going extinct; nothing can prevent that. Deal with it.

The sky has hit you in the head so many times, CAM, that you must be permanently damaged by now. All that tinfoil isn't doing much to protect it, either.

1) so? they got a marketing company to help them make money and setup a stream line billing for all there games. This is an issue why?

2) i don;t see anything in there that mentions a word about legion being killed? so show me where that is confirmed exactly? What because they did not mention a devloping product it means its dead? thats not how it works.

ofc legion is not listed, its not a complete product and they let the trade mark expire. Means nothing actually

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

Eh, I wouldn't say that. Dinosaurs were the dominant group for over 100m years - EvE always survived by knowing how to thrive in its small niche. EvE dies when it forgets that it is a niche game, and tries to be adapted to both the fast-food era of freemium smartphone games and the old school era of PC subscription games.

The honest hope is that CCP treats EvE as more than just a product, and partitions all the new-age game consumerism into their new product lines, leaving EvE less adulterated and milking the heck out of whales looking to beach themselves on new titles and product lines.

Vote Vic Jefferson for CSM X.....XI.....XII?

Dinosaurs died out because they couldn't adapt from a climate changing meteor strike.

Traditional MMOs have had their own version of a meteor strike that has changed the gaming climate. More commonly known as millennials.

Those that can't adapt to the entitled, I-win-for-participating, self absorbed, shallow (ad infinitum) generation, will go extinct. Many have. EVE is barely hanging on right now and needs to try some pretty radical stuff to continue being a viable alternative to what the gaming public currently feel they want in a game.

Cut them some slack. It's not their fault, it's ours. Because...the nineties.
