I am looking to rat havens in a rattle but i am 20 days out from being able to t2 the sentries. Is it even worth trying with t1/faction drones?

Dunno about Havens but I can't use t2 sentries or t2 cruise missiles and i have no problem doing level 4 missions in a rattlesnake. MJD out of range of the rats, couple of drone link augmentors and wardens and barely anything hits you before you pop it from range.
If you target the frigates and destroyers early enough the wardens can hit them before tracking becomes an issue. Having a flight of Hobs or Warriors is a good idea though.

There's at most a 10% dmg difference between t1 and t2 sentries. So yes it's worth it.

faction sentry drones have pretty good dps, you mostly just lose dps from not having the drone spec skill trained. Plus faction sentries have huge tanks so you aren't very likely to lose them. I didn't realize t1 and faction sentries have the same damage, but faction have the extra range and hp so I'd still probably go with them as they aren't too expensive. especially when you are only filling up a rattler drone bay.

Yeah they massivly buffed the t1 drones not to long ago.

And to the OP, yeah, its still worth it. just get some cheap faction drones and your good to go.

MJD, cruise launcers using therm missiles, 2 curators, some TP/MGC/Omni comps and full rack of damage mods in the low. A shield booster (pith C L/XL) cap booster maybe? some EM/therm hardeners and the drone link aug. Rigs to taste (rigor and flare and maybe an anti-em shield rig?)

variations: RHML/Torps and amarr heavy drones/gecko

Use faction sentries until T2.
They have same base damage as T2 and more HP and better tracking.

It gets 10% to both, depending on what you're shooting Therm may be better.

I'd guess vs sanshas therm+50% is better than EM, and a quick look at chruker suggests that is correct. 400 dps into 30-50% resists vs 600 dps into 40-60% resists depending on the target.

Sorry my bad. I had previously done some math on this and somehow got a different result. Maybe it was with T1 missiles where the fact that a %'age is more valuable when working off a higher number. Apologies again.

Here's some math.

Snake - All lvl V T2 Cruise Launcher + 3x Cal Nav BCS

Mjolnir Fury- 553.9 @ 50% resist = 276.95

Gall BS 1 - Inferno Fury - 609 @ 60% resist = 243.6
Gall BS 2 - Inferno Fury - 665 @ 60% resist = 266
Gall BS 3 - Inferno Fury - 720 @ 60% resist = 288
Gall BS 4 - Inferno Fury - 775 @ 60% resist = 310
Gall BS 5 - Inferno Fury - 831 @ 60% resist = 332.4

So the time to switch comes when you hit Gal BS 2 or 3 depending on how high the resists are of the ship you are facing. Lower general resists mean you can switch earlier. Move from Mjolnir to Inferno.

I believe it's a similar situation with Angels though I haven't done that actual math myself (Use Kin rather than Explosive).

Even if it's close to even it makes so you only have to carry two damage type's worth of ammo variations.
